VDSL upload speed (higher than expected?)

yip, asked to reset my VDSL2 profile and yes, upload has increased, mine is set to 10:

Snipping tool is constantly open on my PC. Would be nice if they could integrate it tighter though like Mac OS does screenshots.

Which is why I recommended Greenshot.

Gives you infinitely more control while also automating a lot of it.

Hmm. Interesting.

My 40Mbit line still has upload of 3000Kbps but my down speed is now 45000Kbps yet I still only get ~39Mbit on Speedtest.

TEW-816DRM. I also have a Zyxel VMG1312-B10D (Broadcom based) but my upload sync speed is a bit lower when I use it. Seems Mediatek is better for short loops. The Zyxel was better on ADSL2+ and longer loop. Need to see if I can sync at 10 Mbps up, currently sitting at 8.75. Might have some noise on the line, but the downstream SNR looks good...

Fantastic! What model of Zyxel is this?

I am wondering if this could be Telkom rolling out G.fast?

Interesting attainable rate you have there.

Mmm don't know if this is G.fast related. G.fast is fairly new and requires a newer modem. VDSL2 has always supported far higher upload speeds. This is the Zyxel:

So some (maybe) interesting info; I have always assumed that everything (including Huawei cabinets) were Broadcom based. The Trendnet web interface is pretty sparse and there is no xdslstats CLI like for Broadcom based modems. What I found is that you can get interesting info in /proc/tc3162. So you can just `cat /proc/tc3162/adsl_stats` to get a bunch of things. Among these:

near end itu identification: 26005443434e0000
far end itu identification: b5004946544ed180

There HEX codes converted to ASCII just indicate TCCN (trendchip/mediatek aka my modem) and IFNT. So it seems the DSLAM is Lantiq/Infineon. I now want to try and get a Lantiq based modem and see what the stats look like.

Mmm as for the high attainable rates, wonder if it is not G.INP and G.Vector at play. Will investigate. Might have to plug in the Zyxel again to get access to the Broadcom CLI.

How do you go about asking to resetting your VDSL2 profile?

How do you go about asking to resetting your VDSL2 profile?

I had asked them on their web help chat... took me couple of tries as most if not all of those ppl dont even know what Interleave / fast path is... ( still trying to get that sorted - been a mission )...

Is anyone going to try this today, have them reset your sync profile?

Still on 3mbps up on my side. I'll reboot the router in an hours time when my download finishes and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks, that's interesting,I'm on a 20MB/S ADSL profile but I've moved to 1,5km's away from the exchange and speeds have dropped to 10Mb/s .....would you suggest the Zyxel for my situation?

Mmmm, well I have been on long loops, like over 3km for years and Broadcom (dlink dsl 2500) worked the best for me.

Re: the new upload speeds. Wonder if there is a difference between Infineon and Broadcom based DSLAMs at the moment.

Surprisingly I was on the Dlink dsl 2750u and got better results with the Huawei Media gateway HG532f.

Port Reset and router reboot - stuck on 3mbps up.

Not quite the same as a Profile reset. Its literally resetting your profile on the exchange that governs your line as to what you should Sync at that they need to do.
