VDSL upload speed (higher than expected?)

I asked the Telkom social media people about it but they don't know anything.

Seems everyone I know on my MSAN are syncing at 40/10/. It's a pretty new MSAN (came alive ~2 weeks) ago, so maybe they are testing things.

G.Vectoring definitely makes a difference. We used to have it enabled on one line and it was fantastic. Then it got disabled for some reason. Do you know your distance from the exchange?

Well, walking distance is about 500 metres, but I estimate the copper distance at 700m or so, based on the attenuation figures. Seems all my neighbours (closer and further from the MSAN) sync at 10240 up, I only managed 9225 at the moment. Think my line is a bit wonky. VDSL2 has alternating upstream and downstream bands, so I might have interference in one band.

Too scared to log it now though, in case they lock me back to 3Mbps up. :)

I am on an old exchange and instead of getting Telkom to recreate my profile I upgraded my 20 mbps vdsl to 40.

I can confirm I sync at 40/10 now

Update: Getting Interleave Disabled on your line drops your Upload speed down to 3Mbps on 40Mbps

I would rather take the slightly latency knock for significantly better upload speed.

Seems to come at the expense of some other users ... I've been getting 19mbps down for 2 years, and the last few days I'm hovering at 8mbps if I'm lucky :/

Update: Getting Interleave Disabled on your line drops your Upload speed down to 3Mbps on 40Mbps

There's no logical reason for this, the reason this happens is because telkom only has 6 pre-made profiles without interleave, it's the profiles with the standard speeds (in my case 20mbps down, 2mbps up) it would just take a little more effort on their part and fast path would work on any speed

I have just upgrade to 40mbps
Upload is now 10mbps.

I'm contacting Telkom support on Monday asking them to reset my profile.
