Vodacom disappearing airtime and data problem

"Dear Customer, we sincerely apologise for the incorrect billing on your account and inconvenience caused. All related airtime and data bundles have been re-instated. To view your balance dial *111#. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

I hadn't even noticed. I'm on prepaid, so I assume I would have noticed at some stage if I wasn't able to make any calls because all my airtime had vanished. Sigh. So keen to move to Telkom.

“Vodacom is having a party with my data today. It’s actually so crazy. Unless killing 2gig in 10mins is possible?” said one user.

Well... Technically yes actually. LTE is pretty fast.

It is because of a fundamental aspect of law which you don't understand called "dolus" or intent. Vodacom's issue is a technical issue, there is no criminal intent involved. When you shoplift a phone, you have criminal intent to steal. Simple as that.
And who's to say it's intended when I walk out of a shop and my pants grab a hanger and walk out with it? There IS a double standard here. Consumers are always seen as being in the wrong where if it's a company like here they can blame it on a "technical error" even though the users complained first.

Correct. Technical errors of this nature should never happen. It shows up internal configuration management processes that are just not good enough. It is a real stretch to write off a billing system change as a "technical error" , given the risks such an "error" hold for the entire company.

And it is just too convenient to always assume a consumer is automatically in the wrong.

“We are allocating FREE 500MB data valid for 3 days to those customers, for the inconvenience caused,” said Vodacom.

This is over and above the data, they stole right?

meaning they will get the lost data plus this?

Valid for 3 days :wtf: :wtf:

Giving with a half heart

Slap in the face from vodacom.

Should be 1gb valid for 30 day min.

There will always be the ungrateful ones. Vodacom gives the free data as a sign of goodwill. Vodacom is under no obligation to give the free data as long as it has reimbursed its customers' lost data and airtime.

At a quick glance, I thought it read "500MB for 3 months..." then i saw it would be valid for 3 days :wtf: They should have made it for 30 days at least.

Funny how these glitches are more inclined to always take from the customer. How often do we have glitches that give to the customers, glitch allocates each customer double data and the customers have fun for once....
