Vodacom explains its higher prices

I get the impression certain articles are done purposefully to work the MyBB forumites into a frenzy :whistle::D

Fair enough. May people don't mind paying more for higher quality. And their numbers substantiate this

May people don't dont, May pooople go down by the peer on Satuuurdaaayz.. lifes liek a boks of chocklutz

I think it is official. I have never disrespected any other company EVER as much as Vodacom. The only thing that remains amazing is that just when you thought they cannot reach a lower point, they manage to succeed. Every time ANYONE at that company opens their mouths in the press, they just embarrass themselves even further! What a joke. They have this little untouchable attitude, we'll I have news for them, bigger companies have failed for being a lot less arrogant. Just wait, you will run yourself into the ground eventually.

So you think the dude should start bashing his own company? Of course you need to exert confidence, as much as possible, you have investors to please, and money to make, it doesn't matter if the entire thing is burning down around you! Which it isn't, actually, they make a complete killing.

VC actually has LOWER costs due to economy of scale.

Also, most consumers are strongly influenced by Brand (not price) when making mobile purchases, so of course Vodacom will continue to make sales until the momentum shifts.

well.... vodacom has got at least one thing going for them... which, despite what their network performance or costs may be or not, makes it (at least for me) the network of choice for office: having to manage other users' modems : the Vodacom website that allows monitoring of data and airtime balance, and ability to add more data bundles online.
I have quite a few users, who are simply not able to check balance, load data etc, so kiepie has to do it :-)
Only Vodacom has the online ability for this, so until 8ta, MTN, Cell-C gives the option, VC it is for corp modems :-)

I think though that business contracts also have to change.
I have recently ported from MTN to cell c, wife on cell c and using 8ta for broadband, spend about in total R250.

But have recenlty taken a phone and broadband contract with VC to the value of R600.
I had begged the guys to organise better contracts, but they advise they only deal with VC.

I actually agree with Vodacom. I've honestly given up on the other networks. No use charging me less and I get EDGE and spots of 3G here and there. With a Vodacom SIM one is far more certain of getting signal when moving around in SA.

So what you do is get 60+60 GB or internet5 promo from 8.ta that you mostly use, and a 1Gig from Vodacom for those areas where no other signal is available, but getting all your data from Vodacom is just crazy...

My problem is not with the dude, my problem is with the clowns that pay him a salary. They will only make a complete killing for that long I can assure you, their complete arrogance and resilience to remain competitive will bite them in the ass eventually. They are displaying very obvious shortsightedness, they ride on the back of the fact that they (in the past) was the best network and built themselves a nice little customer base. Their customers will (already are) jump ship at the first change they get. They offer nothing of real value and just manage to piss off their base on an ongoing basis, this is if forums such as these are anything to go by.

They have people locked into contracts (myself included) which is why they retain at the moment. We live in a real world, so people will only hold out with them for that long, and with each passing day, the other smaller providers are improving their networks (for those that evanglise the VC network which I have had no good experiences with). By the time they realise they waited to long, their customers will be signed up with providers that offers value for money, good service, a decent network and actually act (at least) if they care about their customers.

8ta does have this even better 8ta stop u from going out of bundle without your permission

At my house:
CellC = ~14Mbps and 50ms latency
8.ta = ~7Mbps and 80ms latency
MTN = ~1Mbps and 100ms
VODA = ~2Mbps and 60ms..and the signal strength is excellent.

So, why would I purchase VODACOM data at a premium ? I wouldn't.

Patel said that Vodacom’s Internet Daily products should be seen as merely a start for the company, explaining that these products will evolve in time.
Well this is obviously the slowest evolution ever! 10 years ago we paid R50 per MB as opposed to R2 per MB now. 10 years ago Cell C did not even have their own network, now they charge you more than 10 times less than Vodacom per MB.

That is not the kind of evolution that people like to see.
