Vodacom issues today...

What on earth is up with Vodacom today! I've had no less than 30 - 50 dropped calls today, the voice quality was really bad, sounding like people are FAR away! SMS's won't go thru, or fails at first attempt. Now I'm home, and the website is up the pole. Everybody on Vodacom at the office complained about the same issues today! My partner also complained! So not an Isolated thing! Even on my other phones!

This all seemed to have happened around 1pm - 4pm. at 5 I made a couple more calls, and each call was dropped before it went through!

*g*

I think the whole of Vodacom is down. I phoned 155 and it said they are experiencing problems.

I have not been able to get HSDPA for hours now. If I can actually post this it will be a wonder.

VodacomData, what is wrong with the network?

I can only get GPRS at the moment. When I dial 155 that oke says that there are issues.

FFS.

One of my clients phoned me yesterday also complaining....could not make any calls. Kept on saying "Call Failed". Switching phone off and back on, taking battery and sim out did not help. Could receive calls though. Was in the Edenvale area. It seems to be back to normal now. Sjoe.

No problem you can explain it to them when they call you.

Do you know how long it usually takes to contact someone?

+- 24hrs depending on their work load

20-08-2009 11:36 AM is the time I last heard from anyone i.e. VodacomData. Can you please explain to me what the problem is? Because this is an overall problem and clearly I'm not the only one. Or if you have no answer, can you please tell me what the procedures are for cancelling my contract and what my costs are going to be?

I really have had no problem with Vodacom in the past, [in fact I have had excellent service (see previous posts)] but this is getting absurd. I guess we all just need answers, because the guys at 155 are hiding behind their checklists, and not touching the root of the problem.

Daspoort area, between Mountain View and Pretoria Gardens, Pretoria.

Yesterday, late afternoon, 29 Aug, I too experienced disgustingly low speeds and most local content not available or a lot of timeouts, gateway errors, very high latency. Made contact with the 155 data centre only to be told there is a technical problem, heck, I couldn't even access mybroadband forums, niether speedtest.net. To say the least, I was really cheesed off. Prior to July, I had fun using 3G, and bragging to all my friends how fast an experience 3G is.

This morning, 30 Aug, everything seems fine, but still not what 3G is supposed to be.

Come on Vodacom, start doing something already. This is really not a funny joke anymore :(

Frequent wierd no-connection courtesy of ??

It's never been this bad, even my days at iBurst were better.
What the heck is going on . . . three times just trying to get to post this.
VMC sez shows Connected, but pages I'm viewing become 'offline' . . . FF can't connect to anything when that happens. Reloading browser no joy, must disconnect VMC and reconnect again to continue.

Please tell me this is the "network upgrades" . . . and that we will get service again sometime soon !!

When VMC says connected are you able to ping one or two sites?

Groenkloof contention ?

This morning, ADSL was down at the premises where I was going to demo website changes for USG. Fortunately I have 3G, right . . . Not. Despite showing HSDPA . . . very, very slow, could not complete loading the main page.
Phoned the Jhb office - remote access is speedy as expected. (ADSL, not 3G).
The problem persists.

Just did another test to speed.vodacom.co.za and the speeds are still bad. For some reason it just wont go on to HSDPA, even after rebooting the router.

No I leave it to 3G preferred, but on 3G only it did the same thing.

It switched over to HSDPA a few minutes ago and I ran a quick test.
Speeds are about half of what I used to get but much better than earlier.
