Hey Wezley

this still ongoing ?

VData is there a problem with the vodacom data network at night?
Last night it was so bad I couldn't even run a speed test using vodacom speedtest. And trying to download I could only get up to 3kB/s... This has been going on over the past few weeks I notice.

I am in Trichardt (near Secunda).
Modem: E220 & E172

Ok, so the data desk tell me there had been problems in the Gauteng & Mpumalanga areas, but a notification was sent out this morning to say the issues are resolved. We'll see what happens in the evening.

These call centres can be a royal pain - I call to notify them of a network issue and they immediately ask me to go to the VMC software. When I say I use MDMA I am told they don't support that! I almost lost it!

Then they start talking to me about AV's when I have been going at +3.1Mbps with the same tools I have a few weeks ago.

@V3G
hmmmm... so far so good , first time i've tried to today( 4th ), been on for about 5min without discon , hopefully it stays this way! thanks!:D

EDIT: after 30min got disconnected :<

I hope you can help me, I dont know what else to do or who to call.

For the past few days I have had horrible lag. Whether I am browsing the web, downloading or playing online games (WoW). Everything is fine for 20 seconds or so, but then get a lag spike of anything between 3-15 seconds. At times everything is fine for 15 minuts then it starts up again.

I am using my Samsung SGH-800 as modem, and have used it for the last 7 months with zero hassles. My OS is Vista, and I am in Glenashley, Durban North.

I have tried phoning the call centre a few times (155) but they cant seem to help me. They have had my do ipconfig/flushdns and ipconfig/registerdns but this did absolutely nothing.

EDIT: Finally got hold of a lady that was willing to log a call for me. Hope this sorts it out. The lag was actually fine until approx 6:30pm.

"broadband"...pffh

Same issue for me as well. Last weekend there was HUGE connection and latency issues that took Vodacom more than a couple of hours to fix... and now since Wednesday the connection has been dropping every couple of minutes.

It actually dropped while I was typing this post...

Specs:

Modem : K3565-Z
Speedtest.net:

Location: Centurion, Pretoria

Vodacom's so called "broadband" is pretty pathetic...

Please can someone help me , i cant even connect for twenty seconds anymore . I'm writing this from my phone.does my problem have to do with my modem or the current on going upgrades.@v3g you asked if this was still on going and yes it is , is there a way you can help? Please please please people i'm desperate for an answer.

You either need to give 155 a call or sit tight till Monday, I suspect VCD will only be online again then.

My phone has not rung once today and there was no VM alert.

Just checked 121 and, yes, there was a message from Chandré. I sincerely hope they sort this out once and for all.

Speeds are back to the 1.8 level after hitting an all-time low this morning.

Thanks, Morné!

Still no word from Chandré ... and speeds are nowhere near 3.6

Download Speed: 1958 kbps (244.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1188 kbps (148.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

Steinie

You do realize that you will never get 4mbs on a telkom line , these are all theoretical speeds no service provider MTN , CELL-C Virgin and Telkom can say you are going to reach A speed of 4mbs . All the ads you see says UP TO .So in a perfect world where you are a stones throw away from the exchange and you have fiber instead of copper you will reach these speeds.
