I’m looking to get a new air filter for my car and specifically a flat drop in replacement like the one from K&N, I’ve tried every shop in Cape Town but none of them have it, anyone know where I could get one?

True, but it doesn't stop every Polo with an airfilter from trying

Most cone installations rob power. A proper induction setup (cold air) or a proper flat panel *can improve things if there's other supporting mods that can use alot more air.

K&N filters on VWs are like BF Goodrich A/T tyres on double cab bakkies. They are just money-to-noise converters.
