Cannot even use my uncapped Web Africa account last 2 nights in Cape Town.

4Mbps line. Cannot open any websites :mad:

@Magnarmalok that Afrihost traceroute confirms it is most probably your exchange that is congested :(

If your line is directly from Telkom, send TelkomZA a private message. Otherwise if your line through your ISP, send a support ticket to them.
 
This may be a stupid question and maybe I'm doing something wrong, but does Web Africa not allow this setting - "Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports".

I was able to use it with 3 other ISPs over the years, but when I enable it with WA, I cannot connect.

Edit: When I say I cannot connect, I mean my primary WA account refuses to authenticate. It used to be very convenient switching between my primary account and my free accounts without having to touch anything on the router.

Edit Again: I've just entered the username/password of my free Afrihost account on my router, enabled "Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports" and I get the same problem. As soon as I uncheck that option, I'm able to connect to my ISP. Sorry WA, it is not only you.

Something, somewhere must have changed. I've even replaced my old router because I thought it was starting to fail. The new one is doing exactly the same thing. :(

Do you want your router in full bridge mode or half-bridge?

Account dialed up on the router and then you want to be able to dial up accounts via Windows as well if need to - easy way to switch between various accounts?

Half-bridge mode so that I'm able to dial up accounts from my OS. The problem is that it has suddenly started failing at router level. For some reason, I cannot connect to either Afrihost or WA (on the router), when I select "Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports".

This is something that always used to work and now it doesn't.

...and it seems to have started a few weeks ago. The same thing happens when I try my Afrihost credentials.

Shouldn't Web Africa have some sort of automated system for proof of payment to reactivate an account?

Uploading at 0.3MB and downloading at 0.2MB

Hi Guys,

There is still massive strain on the networks due to the updates:(. We have implemented some changes to try to lessen the impact but customers will still experience a degraded service until the demand for the updates have subsided.

The status page is up and we will update things as soon as we get more information.
 
In other words your network is really cr4ppy and you are incapable of people upgrading their devices. Learn to play internet then we will consider you for services. Till then we will avoid you as an option.

Find it really bad the WebAfrica tells its users to max downloads on their accounts to win prizes, then falls over when a predictable demand hits its network.

Looking like a right bunch of idiots to me right now.
 
I'm sorry but does everyone who has an Apple device download their updates via WebAfrica or something!? How can the iOS 8 update cause soo much trouble for a single ISP?

Not everybody with an Apple device uses WebAfrica nor is everyone with an Apple device updating via ADSL even. It doesn't seem very likely that there have been an extremely high amount of people constantly updating their devices to iOS 8 for the past day or so!?!

It just does not make sense to me.

@Chevron, have you had any issues with your 10mbps business account, I can schedule most of my downloads for 12pm :(
Does streaming count towards the star rating?
 
Argh, what's going on on WA capped today? It's like Afrihost all over again.

Everything counts towards it, except for data used between midnight and 6am.

Are there any good ISP's out there?
It seems none of these ISP's want my money...
I can't believe it's this hard to find a good ISP, no one is offering true unshaped uncapped without a threshold, besides AH, but that's a story for another time...
