Web Africa Home Uncapped Feedback

Picking apart a services flaws in its infancy I see the affect on Webafrica as such (provided its fixed on the 15th)

1) The more flaws in their product Webafrica know about the more they know to fix.
2) When the flaws are fixed it will prove they care about their clients and don't just give them a semi-acceptable service.
3) This thread is advertisement for just how good Webafrica support is
4) People who stuck it out are generally active on the forums and when its fixed the product will be praised.

So initially Webafrica have some negative publicity however they are sitting quite full as is, I see us as basically beta testers and in general. Provided the service is restored to how its meant to be on the 15th they will be sitting with a lot of happy customers (I experianced the service before it went to hell and it was AMAZING).

You generally have to hand in a cancellation notice of a debit order before the 25th of a month if I recall correctly, I know that if people see that alls running well the thought of cancellation will run through their mind and cancellations isnt much of a problem, the month of January will bring the customers who want to come to uncapped and basically be the final month of those who cancelled debit orders so Feb would be the month I would expect more migrations.

It all hinges on the 15th but in the long run a service which is picked apart and feedback proves just what areas things need to be improved in, fixed whatever. Webafrica isnt an isp that only has uncapped.

@MightyMuffinMan
A forum is a place of discussion be it positive or negative, if people dont post support tickets and just use forums then I frown upon it but exposing how something is, discussing its pro's and con's is how it all works. Lets not forget Webafrica started this thread and called it uncapped feedback and invited it to good or bad feedback.

Geez if what you say is going to be true, I hope Webafrica will have major capacity because in jan will come all those heavy users to #### up the system for all of us.

I have faith in Webafrica. From what I have experienced their support is fantastic. The speed on a good day is wonderful. So I'm going to stick it out.

Well, I can barely play Old Republic using WA. Walk, walk, walk and then get stuck in a position for a couple of seconds while the latency counter hits 15,000ms. And this happens RIDICULOUSLY frequently.

Your network is a mess, WA.

Edit: I've just bought 1GB from Afrihost. THAT'S how wonderful this R600 product is tonight. Thanks for that.

Oh joy about the latency, I just ordered the game !

Now to find a durbanite with the client :P

Extremely slow streaming, keep losing http connections and can't seem to get anything off usenet servers..

Pretty horrible night tonight WA.

With the capacity upgrades on the 15th, we're expecting the performance to be as it was on the first week of launch, which was awesome :D

This is great, my only problem is that I've paid for a month and a half to get only one week. Ja it is awesome :( Your accounting department must be laughing all the way to the bank. Don't know about you guys, but at the moment i'm trying to dl two torrent files with one seeder and two seeders respectfully . With AH account i'm getting 130kb in total which is fair, with WA 8-10kb. How about that. I haven't used WA account since Sunday and i'm not throttled and not is not my exchange!

Just spent the last hour and a half playing on Afrihost. Wanna guess how it went? Not. One. Lagspike. AT ALL.

Good luck finding the client... :o

Checked last night night. Over the threshold.. got 1/2 line speed. So nothing changed on this side.

I've spoken to WebAfrica support. They sent a test account which I played with for an hour. Latency was between 290-350ms and had the occasional (infrequent) increase to 500ms but never higher. No rubber-banding or frozen characters.

They've acknowledged a problem and hope that the capacity increase tomorrow will help (WAJeff, I told you so! :D).

I have to say, I really love WA's support. They're professional, friendly and courteous so kudos for that. Also said that they'd be monitoring my account (wonder what that means >.>).

So let's hope it works out.

Thanks, WebAfrica.

Please be advised that our Upstream providers will be doing maintenance on our Network.

*sigh* Here's looking forward to tomorrow then.

/switches back to Afrihost.

Lol, you can go and make yourself coffee during those spikes!

lol... Tell me about it :p And they come one right after the other. So you're stuck, can't move and everything's frozen. Then suddenly a bunch of information/kills/battles/hits/etc rushes past you.

Been playing since that post. Not a single lag-spike at all on Afrihost (again).

I don't believe the issue has anything to do with WebAfrica's capacity anywhere near so much as I blame their shaper/packet inspection software. But who knows. I guess I'll find out more tomorrow and then repeat the process of submitting a ticket, doing tracerts and hoping for the best.

Kinda just wish WebAfrica would offer some kind of reassurance, you know? That they WILL do something about it as opposed to, "Wait until the 15th and then see."

It is D day ")

/hands WAJeff his ready to rumble outfit :)

is it just me or does the network feel like its under ALOT of strain at the moment?

Well this morning I could stream something for 30mins without buffering, lets hope it stays this way :)

was getting around 0.12 Mbps on a 4 meg line. now seems to be fixed.

Speedtest score to WA server CPT - 16ms ping, 3.37MBPS down, 0.39MBPS up.

All in all quite acceptable for 4MB. Still havent noticed many problems granted i do not play games and I haven't been downloading a hell of a lot this past week besides an Ubuntu image and then all the updates Ubuntu requires on 3x PC's - all of which weren't slow.

One thing I'd like WA to do, which I've mentioned before, is to put the "FreeZone" meter on the usage stats seeing as though FreeZone is valid on uncapped. I got throttled because I downloaded Windows 8 from the WA FTP about 2 weeks ago (failed twice at around 50% before I decided to use a downloader that could resume ;)) and support may as well just have shrugged at me when I asked them what the problem is - not resolved and long forgotten.
