Web Africa Home Uncapped Feedback

Still getting terrible speeds to MTN Business datacenter here: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1718727218.png

Very surprised this has not been resolved for all users as of yet.

Maybe it's cause uncapped in unsustainable and is causing the users who are on capped products to suffer...

You shouldn't be seeing such slow speeds. Have you contacted our Support guys about this yet?

Yes, ticked reference: EFF051006980

I also sent you an update earlier in this thread. No feedback on my ticket since the 17th...nada...even though I was promised a follow up via email.

It dawns on me that I haven't posted here in a while (took my issues to the WA Forum) but the last few days have been absolutely perfect. Had a bit of a slow-down yesterday afternoon at around 17:20 or so (I don't remember) where Skype was going at around 30kB/s (should be 100-150kB/s) and browsing was achingly slow for about 20-minutes. But my latency problems haven't cropped up again. I think it's been three days without problems?

Hope the trend continues :p

Will see how it is over the weekend when I can play more. But for now, quite happy.

Please do a test on http://speedtest.net/ to "MTN Business" and SAIX up in Jozi if you'd be so kind and post results here.

A tech phoned me today and also did a test from their offices to MTN Business and got bad speeds on Webafrica and good speeds on an FNB connect account he had.

So it appears they are at least aware of the issues to MTN Business now.

I'll request that this be looked into urgently and the issues be fixed ASAP.
I've escalated this onto the ADSL Manager.

Hi all,

As most of you are aware, we’ve been experiencing some issues with our news server. We’ve seen massive growth in the use of our news server and due to this we have decided to put up a brand new server. Currently, we’re in the phase of testing which should be completed by next week. so meantime after which, we’ll carry on with the build and push things live.

This will resolve all the slow and intermittent connections seen on the news server.

The details will stay the same, being:

News.wa.co.za
Port 119

Please add any comments/ feedback on the official announcement thread.

Just as a reminder - one of our upstream providers has scheduled maintenance for tonight between 21:00 - 09:00 tomorrow. This may result in reduced traffic for the non-essential protocols, specifically downloading.

Date: 20 January 2012
Time: 21:00 - 09:00
Duration: 12 Hours
Attending: Network Engineers

Impact: Reduced international capacity, slow downloads, intermittent browser time outs.

Further updates can be found on our forums or Status Page

Glad to hear this :D

Would it kill WA to give us a heads up with an email saying when maintenance is going to take place?

I dont appreciate having to find out about this through other channels.

Its the same scenario as when WA withdrew freezone but people heard about it 1st on mybroadband before an email was sent out. Was an email even sent? I didnt get one. Btw I'm not 1 of the 30 who use freezone. Just an example

I received no email about freezone going.
No email about network maintenance

I know support emails come through (even though the last one was 10 days ago ending with "Going forward, our senior guys has updated the task today 10/01/2012, and currently awaiting there feedback."). I replied for kicks asking about it but everything I find out is through mybb.

I'm greatly interested to see if anyone else is getting notifications about anything.

Seems international is kind of pathetic at the moment. I guess it has to do with tonight's maintenance, although, problems started at 20:40, so I kind of assumed I'd have 20-minutes at least before.

I also have a screenshot of 55-second latency in TOR, but, well, I can't even upload faster than 1.2kB/s to DropBox.

FML.

@KinsZA -- Nope, no notifications here either.
