Web Africa Home Uncapped Feedback

The WA news server doesn't work for me at all: news.wa.co.za port 119
It never connects EVER

But I don't care for downloading much on the other hand when ever I play any online game its impossible the latency is so bad I cant even move my character most of the time. Its like this ALWAYS

When ever I use my afrihost account I can play fine.

I have WA uncapped 1mb. So lets summarize, I can't download, I can't play online games, I can't skype properly sometimes.
What can I do with this uncapped account except browse WAJeff?

Oh wait apologies... youtube works lekka! But i've seen everything on there

this never use to be the case and Im starting to rethink my options as this account which I pay R599 is only worth browsing which I could get for R99 if I only wanted it for that purpose.

I'm also really having trouble today. On 2 occasions everything were dead - like in completely no internet access:wtf:
And I can't stream NGL?

LoL went 'okay'....slight lag but still playable.

There goes my internet again...no conncection whatsoever:( Is it only me?

Nope. We take turns. Now it's you, in a few minutes or an hour it'll be me, then someone else... then someone else... then someone else... and then sometime tomorrow it'll be you again.

I'm just being facetious, but these issues do seem cyclical.

Okay no then i'm not with you guys cause my connection is always sh** its permanent

Got a phone call from WebAfrica at 4pm. "You're in the top 20 users". Upgrade on the phone right then to business uncapped, or the account is cancelled.
Nice! Instant cancellation from their side - but we need to give 1 months notice.

Top 20? What's your average usage per month and what's your usage for this month?

If you're not abusing the system (bypassing throttling/shaping protocols), I don't get the issue. It's an uncapped account for goodness sakes. If I ever got a call like that I'd take my business elsewhere.

Also... lol @ "Upgrade or we terminate your contract... Next month." :D

This will also make me angry! There will always be 20 people in the top 20...:wtf: Do they plan to force 20 of us into business uncapped every month?
Being in the top 20 and downloading a lot isn't against the regulations!?

22GB a day on average. So far this month 614.56GB.

Scheduled downloads from midnight to 6am. Normal usage during the day. As we were told! No throttling/shaping

That's high but certainly not excessive on a line that can max out to 1.1TB per month.

For the record, I use maybe 150GB in a heavy month and average around 120GB.

I was under the impression that that's fine too and precisely what DL+ time is for.

Hopefully WAJeff clarifies this...

Does anyone know if the folks on MWEB have had any issues like this?

Even if you (I guess you are on a 10mg?) just use the line you might and probably would get terminated. Because any every angle I look at the product, even if it's just 100-150 gig p/m, I would still overstep their window at least once to twice. This is then ear marked and you are flagged as...wait for it...HEAVY USER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. God I wish we could get over that term and move on.

AFAIK it's not "legal" to *just* cancel accounts, I would wonder especially at being able to change T&Cs at will too. How would you know what you have singed up for, when it could just be changed at a whim? This 1 month thing surely is BS compared to an ISP being able to cancel instantly.

Maybe this should be relooked by someone like ISPA, *shrugs*.

I certainly wouldn't hold my breath. I really get the feeling that if you D+ too much, you are also a... sigh... HEAVY USER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

uncapped have different meanings for different isp's
No ****.

I agree it's "high" - but without an instruction as to what is considered high, I consider it normal. Communicate with your clients, and we can manage our line to stay within normal.
The biggest issue is the instant termination of services.

Were you at any stage in the red zone with your account, aka over the shaping limit?

Obviously we are paying for a service which isn't uncapped then!?!?! Will give mweb a shot next month.

Again what I can not understand is that WA has rolling windows, priorities, AUP, FUP, packages etc all that is supposed to control usage and only if their system can not cope do these restrictions fall into place.

DL+ time should not count, so take 400 gigs out of the equation (20 gigs per day; 22 days less 40 gigs for when system is not running 100%). 10 meg line has used 224 gigs in 22 days. Surely WA should be able to control / monitor their own system so that they do not to then kick someone off an "uncapped" account.

This just seems wrong to me and I have to assume that WA network is not coping and their systems seem to lack quality and do not deliver. I will be sticking with myBB package for now :)

Sorry to say, but so glad I cancelled. Was only 19 days with them on uncapped account before I started using another isp.

Data usage delays sometimes up to an hour which affects your rolling threshold. But nothing can be done about it. When not throttled downloading from news between 23:00 and 23:59 will go full speed. When the clock strikes midnight it will jump between 60% and 80%. Also for some unknown reason if I use free xsusenet account, would give authentication errors constantly which I haven't experienced with any other isp. Also other small problems that constantly appeared.

Support was reasonable, just don't know why I should rate the service everytime I reply to a message.

Wa, don't know what went wrong along the line, maybe you got to big. But you are a mere shadow of the company that a lot of mybb users used to love and support a couple of years ago.
