Yes!!!

I was very nervous to switch ISP's because of the potential downtime.

From day one Norah was very informative and kept me up to date through the process.

She is a real asset to Websquad!

Norah is awesome, but that said , the whole websquad team is, a co-worker who is also on websquad , had a issue one Friday night, Karabo went out of his way on a Friday night to make a house call to resolve an issue.

Amazing service from everyone on the team

Thank you for the kind words! I’ll make sure to let the team know their hard work is appreciated!

Another Singapore Apex server IP with high latency: 107.6.119.208 and 107.6.117.246

This one looks like the routing goes through London first for some reason.

Quite a few other servers are back down to the ~140ms range though, so thanks for that.

Nevermind, seems to have been a lucky streak of low ping servers. Haven't been able to hit under 240ms anymore.

@websquadza - I just downloaded a game on Origin at close to line speed (between 800-900mbps) which was around 30GB. (great stuff btw)

I checked and Mikrotik was reporting almost triple the number of PPS which usually gets me blackholed being sent during the duration of the download, yet I wasn't blackholed. Is the DDoS protection specific to NNTP or SSL encrypted transfers?

EDIT: Oh wait, I guess another option could be that they have a local CDN, so it didn't go over the international transit.

Seems like we're playing whack a mole with Apex as they switch cloud providers (or load balance across them). So far we know of Linode, Internap (an obscure backing for some cloud vendors), Google if I remember correctly and even AWS at some point. The new IPs you shared seem to originate at internap and not Linode or the other guys. Internap's servers it behind a complex array of ASNs that somehow land up with them favouring our Cogent path (which does not have access to SAFE - Asia to SA). They don't advertise on SGIX and their ustreams don't peer with PCCW (SGIX-Singapore internet exchange, which is why we don't pick them up via our asia transit provider). Basically, Apex's server selections have a large say in how traffic reaches us.

Depending on the source, you'll see different behaviour here; but it's not protocol specific... But glad to hear we're seeing saturation on Octotel's lines.

JHB: Just a small reminder that we do have some planned core maintenance this morning. Maintenance window is between 1 and 2am SAST, 4 November 2021. You may experience some short drops in connectivity during this window.

Edit (01:10): Maintenance complete

If you could optimise just this IP, I could connect through it and get the latency back down again without having to worry about the rest:

Had no connection since yesterday morning (Bluff, Durban). All I've been told is that its a Zoom issue and its been allocated to them but I've got nothing other than that. Not sure if Web Squad aren't giving me more feedback or if Zoom isn't giving them anything to tell me. Either way its becoming very frustrating.

Something up with international at the moment @websquadza ? Getting abysmal NNTP speeds and this is a multi-threaded speedtest to London:

Just noticed the latency is up too - are you testing the new transit again?

We’re testing the new provider again. We need to work on communities to steer traffic a little. Will update as we go along.
