I just joined Websquad this month, I'm on a 1000/200 with Vumatel Aerial in JHB (Roodepoort)

Been testing the last couple of days and this is what I've noticed:
I cant push past 500-600mbps on my line, whether that's locally or internationally
My pings are all over the place, local and international , I don't understand how I can have so much jitter within JHB, as well as a ton of loss in CS:GO on our local servers.
International performance isn't great, getting 100-150mbps with a download manager. (Hetzner 10gb Test file from their site)
Google Drive backups seem to be rate limited to 100mbps , used to max this on old ISP.

After last nights maintenance, at 2am I started getting what I used to get on other ISP's , 930ish/197.
From this morning its back down to 700-800mbps , which is an improvement, but not where I think it should be and leads me to wonder if Websquad is having capacity issues.

My first impression of Websquad thus far isn't great , but I'm hoping Websquad can resolve these issues.

Thanks for the feedback and we'd be happy to look into these for you. I think the first area of concern is your separate ticket for your underlying Vumatel issue which we're going to escalate. Last night's maintenance also included a software upgrade on our accelerator, with some optimised settings for that, which may have translated into this gain and still obfuscate an underlying issue. This was amongst other software upgrades completed on some core devices.

However, I can assure you that our network capacity is not constrained; we actively monitor all our port and device capacities and there's plenty of capacity to go around after recent major upgrades all round.

Could you please update your ticket with regards to the speed with some MTRs so we can look at the jitter? I'd like to keep that all in one place. Google, for example, is local peering and we have no control over their network; these limits usually come from their side, so this is an odd one and we'd be happy to try contact their NOC here.

I'm seeing those from other ISPs on an intermittent basis as well.
Here is my log:

I think there is something happening at NAP.
Could you send me any more info you may have on this? Been seeing some weird things there and would like to investigate this a little further, especially since you're seeing this elsewhere too. Any MTRs or traces?

We’re testing the new provider again. We need to work on communities to steer traffic a little. Will update as we go along.

CPT Update- we've temporarily drained these paths for the evening so they don't affect clients' evening experience

Quick Poll regarding International Latencies:

We're testing a transit service that terminates in Paris instead of London. This means better latencies (+-10ms shaved off) to greater Europe (France, Belgium, Frankfurt amongst others) but an added 7-8ms to London as we still need to pass traffic on to there. So the question we have to ask is which regions are best to get a lower latency to?

My work stuff mostly sits in London and Ireland

I often see packet loss on the last hop to some random IP that transverses NAP. Don't want to give the IPs as they are privately hosted cloud servers but just looking at crowdcast.io
Happens intermittently every few minutes.

Will dig a little and see if we can pick up anything. Thanks for this

No real preference for general usage. Gaming-wise, I'd probably prefer the better latencies to greater Europe.

I only hope the experience on the new transit is better for download speeds than it has been thus far when you officially add it to the mix. I assume you don't have the accelerator running on it?

Just checking in with other Apex players RE this season. Are you guys lagging / feeling like there's packet loss, regardless of latency? I can't get a single non laggy game, and I'm wondering if something's changed at WS, or Octotel, or if it's a general server issue with Apex.

There is a weird audio lag when doing anything, like if you loot something half a second later the audio queue plays, when you're looting a box it feels like someone is looting it with you.

But I haven't had an actual laggy server, I know friends have had slowmo laggy servers.

That's just it, it doesn't feel like it's just the audio lag, everything actually feels like it has that extra delay.

It's actually like they moved a bunch of user interactions to the server side instead of the client side, and now you can really feel the latency a whole lot more. I wonder if it's a stealth change to combat cheating.
