Weight loss

I think the burgers are low in carbs

Fry's - Soya Burger Pattie
Servings:
Calories 110 Sodium 1 mg
Total Fat 4 g Potassium 0 mg
Saturated 2 g Total Carbs 10 g
Polyunsaturated 0 g Dietary Fiber 0 g
Monounsaturated 1 g Sugars 4 g
Trans 0 g Protein 13 g

10g per patty is a bit high if you're really lowcarbing.

For the original one it is 5.6 g carb per burger

DrewChan still believes in CICO

CICO is true, but there's a special Calories-Out mechanism that works extremely well - excretion :D A body in ketosis has no way to store energy.... Use it or lose it.

Now now you old bastid

My argument is not about CICO- I agreed in a previous post re: calories not being accurate and that the bodies metabolism is a chemical process.

I do however disagree with the statement calories are "completely irrelevant" in terms of a keto diet.

Ignoring their accuracy they are still a base measuring tool. If one had to eat a billion calories worth of hamburger patties one WOULD gain weight.

Therefore it has relevance however slight

How would one gain weight, given the body's inability to store fat?

there's some evidence that show's that CICO is not true, however I'm still researching it.

I also think the there is a broad sweeping use of the concept of ketosis, when referring to LCHF

The concentrations of acetoacetic acid, b-hydroxybutyric acid, and acetone occasionally rise to levels many times normal in the blood and interstitial fluids; this condition
is called ketosis, because acetoacetic acid is a keto acid. The three compounds are called ketone bodies. Ketosis occurs especially in starvation, in diabetes mellitus, and sometimes even when a person’s diet is composed almost entirely of fat.

The acetone that is formed during ketosis is a volatile substance, some of which is blown off in small quantities in the expired air of the lungs. This gives the breath an acetone smell that is frequently used as a diagnostic criterion of ketosis.

When changing slowly from a carbohydrate diet to an almost completely fat diet, a person’s body adapts to use far more acetoacetic acid than usual, and in this instance, ketosis normally does not occur.

Never thought about that... but it makes sense as you wave goodbye to the excess ketones when you pee. But if you mistake your calculations and come out of ketosis, sheeeeeebang!

So you're telling me that a person can forcefeed themselves on keto and never store fat? Cause I want a study backing that up because it makes no sense

Storage of fat in the fat cells requires insulin. Insulin is hardly present at all on a ketogenic diet. The primary glucose related hormone present is glucagon - this hormone triggers gluconeogenesis and release of triglycerides from fat cells.

So no, you won't store fat. Unless you eat so much protein that your body manages to create enough sugar off it that switches out of ketosis, dan is jy in die ***.

My understanding of ketosis is the condition where your body is producing ketone bodies for energy.
So on a low carb diet you'll always be in ketosis, but depending on your metabolism you may or may not be excreting them.
So it's important to exercise, to up your metabolism, to trigger your body to produce more ketones for you to pee out :D

Interesting if true - I will need to do more research
