Actually busy looking for one:

1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia. I bought it for R50 as a matric laaitie and rebuilt it from the ground up. Stuck an 1750 Berlina motor in it and killed everything on the road with it.

DKW station-wagon - Bought in 1966, it was umpteen hands old. The doors opened into the air stream, so if you opened it, the wind blew it backwards! The 3 cylinder, 3 coil engine and freewheel option made it the most unique vehicle I've ever seen.

Late 70s model Ford Escort 1600. Although I remember it being a far brighter yellow! And the mags and sound system cost as much as the car did.

Couple of years ago I stayed on a small holding with a pensioner who restored DKW's (They actually got a club!).
He showed me the ins and outs of this simple engine. Actually amazing!

2005 Corolla 140i, it was cheap and reliable so I pretty much went everywhere with it (gravel roads in nature reserves were no issue).

Still miss that car.

Giving my age away. My dad owned the car. It was not working. Promised if I could rebuild the engine at mu cost I could have it. Set me on my way to appreciate cars. (This image is not my car but a similar one 1967 Ford Consul 315)

It was a 1948 Austin A40.
When I was 11 years old I received this car so I could drive all the local kids to school. I also earned pocket money by teaching local (adult) ladies to drive! During Varsity, my father bought me a 1962 VW kewer which I had to pay back when I started to work.
Then the Austin went to my younger brother.
I am so sorry we lost the car. My father gave it to an uncle who's car was stolen, and it left a loving home.
The photo was taken during the annual holiday to the Cloud Mountains, in Chunies Poort. (Now the Drakenberg)
