Which performance car for R500k?

The Volvo looks really good, and being a Volvo you know that it will be comfortable.

What about an Audi S5?

For the love of all that is holy, please don't get a Golf GTI. Maybe a GTD if you can find one, but otherwise it's just another Golf with a more powerful engine. And this, coming from a VW Group enthusiast.

The only way you'll really know is to take all of the cars on your shortlist for a test drive. You sound like the type of person who will know in the first five minutes whether you'll love the car or not.

I like my incognito soccer mom white SQ5 Tdi..would also have been nice in grey or similar. But ya if you want to be seen its not the thing.

SQ5 does look good in grey. But I find most modern Audis look great in white, shows off the lines well.

All Audis are boring, and this one looks really dated now.
Audis get eaten By the other germans by a margin. I will admit, audi makes great/cool LED headlights and tail lights. Thats where it ends unfortunately. The rest of the product is just vanilla.

Mighty broad strokes you are using there.

For 500k get a M140i that still has some plan left. You won't be disappointed. The b58 motor is solid and just sounds way better than all the other 4 pot bangers.

Try find one that has the M performance exhaust on.
+1 get a bmw with a b58.

M140i, 340i, 240i etc.

You can also unlock some extra ponies after motorplan expires for relatively cheap. Downpipe & software will give you at least a extra 50kw at the wheels and a lot more torques.

B58 has proven to be a lot more reliable than the older n54 & n55

Well, I would say Audi's interiors are not ostentatious - but they are extremely high quality and well put together.

And personally I prefer their layout and design choices over the other two Germs. It's such a nice place to be in.

Yes. 3.0 TDI. Despite what some people think not all Audi's are slow.

You are correct, why stand out from the crowd? Rather just get yourself a 320d tampon.
I have the same engine, Its amazing on the highway how that car wants to run all the way to the limiter
When I first got the car I was shocked at the speed it would build up on the onramps before getting into the highway

How are the Renaults these days, Remember my EX had one and it was a money pit
Bulletproof since they took over Nissan. I have the Megane GT for 4 years now, no issues and the build/ride quality is on par with Audi...

 Dont know if I would compare it would Audi- I have to say Audi Engineers put that little extra torque when tightening the bolts:laugh: I owned 3 BMWs and 1 Audi - The Audi quality is soo far superior.

I've driven them all, hence my comment ;) Audi is my least favourite from the Germans, but their build quality is superior...
