I picked up a pack of 2 ice balls at the weekend to add to the one I already have. This is an omen, I think some experimenting is in order this weekend.

I started with the balls and moved to cubes. Less of a pain, easier in the freezer. Just need to find a glass to match.

The key is the bigger the ice piece, the better...it must chill, not dilute.

I don't like drinking from square glasses though...drinking from the traight side feels uncomfortable and I don't want to find the corner with my mouth the whole time either.

Square cube in a round tumbler...not the same as a round peg in a square hole. :p

These are the ones I got recently. Very easy and no spill or mess. Just fill to the line and then put the top on. No rolling around in the freezer like with the ball shaped freebie I got with a Tullamore Dew.

I agree...my round ones are just a huge pain to fill. Square ones in my basket already. Tx @morkhans

I have this, but paid way less that this though.

And fits beautifully in my favourite glass of the moment, the Three Ships freebie...

And talking of glasses, my wife “found” these Glenkinnchie glasses we got when we did the distillery tour a couple of years ago. I’d no idea she’d bought them until she produced them a few days ago when we were talking about having friends round to do some tasting.

2 beautiful little glasses engraved with Glennkinchie The Edinburgh Malt. Here beside a normal Glencairn for size comparison.

I want to buy some of those filled stainless steel ice cubes for my other drinks that I don't like watered down. Quite a few options at Amazon.

From what I have read these metal "whisky stones" work better than those soapstone ones.

Just saw this now, worth it?

"Lagavulin 12yo (SR 2020) Bottling Note

Once again, Diageo has released a marvellous 12 year old Lagavulin single malt as part of its Special Releases series. The 2020 Special Releases Lagavulin 12 Year Old was aged in refill American oak casks, and packs plenty of smoky notes, though there's also a good helping of boiled sweetie and sweet spices in there too... Boulevard cellars has the 2019 release the R1760. It's really good.
