I think it's purely because of how divisive peat can be, especially for those new/newer to whisky. Big Peat is unashamedly in your face with it - so I'm sure a peathead would love it.
I think I've made the leap from appreciating 'smooth' whisky to trying to find complexity in taste but I'm not quite ready for that. My sweet tooth is too strong
I'll be honest, I had hyped up the 18 in my mind that I think it fell a little flat for me. If you go in thinking the 15 will have developed from teenager to young adult, you might be disappointed. Taking it as its own dram (of course with that Glendronach flavour) made me appreciate it more. It's fantastic, but I think I'll probably be ordering the 15 again first... and not just because it's a lot cheaper
