Purchased a bottle of Tullamore Dew 12 year old yesterday (R340). It is so smooth...yumm. I have one dram of this and then switch to the normal Tullamore Dew.

My new brother in law shared some of his blue label with us last weekend , 'twas indeed the shizniz. However I still do prefer the Irish stuff , I do prefer Jameson's especially the gold , the special reserve isn't to bad either. I will def make a plan to try some of the suggestions in this thread. Oh and for me the best way to drink is straight up with 3 or 4 ice cubes. A dash of water for the less exotic stuff.

To each there own, I suppose, as that is exactly my preference. Have a good mate who would agree 100% with you.
 
I don't think that there is a whisky I don't like, but my favourite is Glenfiddich 15 year old for a single malt, and Chivas for a blend.

Everyday sipping is J&B or JW red, and a good cheapish number is VAT 69.

I drink all my whisky neat, except Jack Daniels which I enjoy with a block of ice.
 
Irish whiskey is where it started for me, then moved onto single malts, and now I can enjoy a blend. Im not a fan for more fruitier whiskys, enjoy peaty, smokey and spicy whiskys and have gone off irish whiskeys completely now( I get a sweet taste from it??).

I have a glass a day pretty much, my current everyday whizzas are J&B, Glendower (8 year old pure malt R175) and black bottle. Depending on my mood those are my go to whiskys, although glendower usually wins.

Once a week or if its been a pretty horrible day I hit my single malts. Also go three of these at the moment, Caol Ila 12 year, Talisker 10 year or Jura 16 year. Just finished my Peat monster (which was fantastic! btw). All time favourite is Lagavulin 16 year.

I make sure I have a few blended whiskys around otherwise I polish off single malts far too quickly, always have about a tot and a a bit take a few sips clean then add 5/6 medium sized ice blocks. I enjoy the progressive tastes, i.e. no ice, with ice, chilled, and as ice melts different flavours released.

I've found there is no right or wrong way, drink it however you enjoy it thats the point!

Funny observation any whisky that starts with a number eg first watch, three ships etc... tastes like petrol to me I stay away from the stuff!!
 
Agreed, Six Isles is horrible, tastes like iodine...

Probably going to get crucified for this, but I mix it with tonic water and lots of ice.
 
I have seen these johnny walker ads the last couple of days with a countdown timer that says something along the lines of: "The world of whisky is about to change forever..."

Anyone know what it's about? They releasing a new whisky?

it's personal preference, I haven't tasted it but the iodine flavour is usually reflective of an Islay malt although in this case I see they say it's an Orcadian malt that gives it the iodine flavour.

From the peaty and smoky malt from Islay to the soft, heathery, honey and iodine notes of the Orcadian malt make The Six Isles a sensory voyage through the malt whiskies of the islands of Scotland

Whiskey now :D

Not as much of a whiskey fanatic as I am a brandy one, but its all good :p

I really like the taste of Jameson. Recently finished a bottle of 12 year old that I treated myself to about 2 years ago.

Have a bottle of Singleton that I got as a gift. Will open on a special occasion.

Also have a bottle of Johnny Walker Black which I got as a pressie. Just in time as well since my bottle was empty.

Only other one I have right now is Johnny Walker Red, but I just use that for making Irish Coffee ;)

It is nice to see that Three Ships 5 year old is winning some international awards for best blended whiskey in the world. I will be trying a bottle of their limited release 10 year old single malt. They have confirmed they will be releasing another batch on 21 September.

PS, I only found out about whiskey stones last week for the first time. Anyone used them?

Definitely not missing the Whiskey Festival this year :p
 
On the regular will usually be JW Black or Double Black.

Special occasions anything single malt.
 
Dalwhinnie and Jameson 18y are my personal favs. Just a pity the price, so i rarely drink em.
