Why The iPhone Is Better

Don't you?

Ha ha I was thinking the same thing. I bet if I had the time and was bored enough I could find various references by iPhone owners knocking other makes.

If you got yourself an iphone lancelot then we could all have a constructive discussion going, I don't know of any iPhone users creating threads to bash Nokias or Samsungs.

So for the moment all your criticisms aimed at the iPhone in my opinion is (dare I say it) just trolling.

So let me get this straight, I must go and buy a phone, which I can easily see online does not have the features I want as standard, just so that I can then comment on it? Hmm, so when you iPhone users state that this is the best phone ever, does that mean you have actually owned every phone ever made?

Fortunately we don't have to go through life buying goods to know how they compare to other goods. We have things called reviews and comparisons where people in the business of comparing phones do it on the consumers behalf so that the consumer can make an educated decision regarding a purchase. Quite sensible really...

All Lancelot has done is expose the deficiencies in the iPhone as per these reviews/comparisons...

There is thin line between objectively comparing and all out anti-fanboi bashing, he crossed that line a long time ago.

mmmm... that's subjective... personally I believe every time he opens his mouth he hits a nerve cause he is making you iPhone fan bois look meek, gullible and very under equipped with your new acquisitions...:D

You might not have noticed(I should have made myself clear I guess) but me saying that you should get an iPhone was meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

Hmm, even reading it again it seemed far from tongue in cheek especially considering it preceded these words...

Now I am still interested in your views on whether those who make comments about the iPhone being the best phone ever, without ever owning all other phones, should also be considered trolls then? I may be ripping into the iPhone but a comment like that is an insult to all other phone owners!

Can't speak for others but I never said it's the best phone ever, just the best phone for me.

Have you had a proper look at who created this thread? And if people go around ignorantly bragging about their pieces of iCrap, everyone should just be expected to keep quiet about it? If somebody did that to me personally I'd probably smack them.

It's been said before, if you want to spout a one-sided view where everyone agrees with you then by all means start a new forum for it. But on an unbiased forum, expect criticism.

I don't see Lancelot doing anything wrong, if he criticises then he seems to back it up. All I've ever seen iPhone people say is ooh look at me, I'm so cool 'cos I have an iPhone. I don't give a crap about specs because it's an iPhone, it's Apple and it has an i in front of it, therefore I'm better than you.

Like I said before this thread was started in defense... it's by pooky, let's be honest this thread was never meant to be taken seriously.

Does it matter though? If someone wants to criticise something then I personally have no problem with them starting a thread to do so, provided they can justify their statements. Likewise if they want to praise it. Otherwise I'd agree it would just be trolling, perfectly illustrated by this thread.

Alright...

Read most of the posts here and I personally think that everyone is correct to a certain degree...

Here is my opinion...

The iphone on paper isn't the best phone by a long shot BUT:

+ I feel that after a year of owning one myself that im still into it, unlike my Nokia, Samsung, HTC that I had before where it's all good and nice with the features but after a while you get bored and it becomes just a regular phone. The iPhone still has me using all it's features and checking Cydia and installer every day. The interaction that you have with that phone is better than the HTC and any other product on the market.

+ The OS itself is amazing and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Apple makes great software and great products. One year and not ONE problem... not one.

+ When owning an iPhone your not just owning a phone but your part of a community. You can use it for so many different things besides the obvious.

+ The display of the phone and it's features is alot better than the Omnia, Nokia etc. It feels sexy and looks sexy. Take time to look at the menu on an iPhone, Omnia and Nokia and you will understand what I mean.

+ If I wanted a phone with a better camera etc then I would just buy a damn camera... Honestly, how many times do you REALLY use the camera? Be honest now.

+ MMS? I would much rather email... it's free! (WiFi)

+ Forward message? I have never used that function so I personally have no need for it.

This is my opinion and regardless of what you guys have to say... this is by FAAAR the best phone I have owned... and yes, I have owned the latest Nokia's, HTC's and Samsung's...

Ag lance just give it a break - go to your family.

you don't need to prove anything.

Unfortunately I don't have space in my pocket for a camera and a phone every time I head out.

Ag, Keeper, get on with your life and stop worrying so much about what others do....

I have nothing to prove. I am not a scientist. I discuss things because I want to.

That's right, just keep feeding us by constantly feeling the need to convert everyone! :)

Now I'll get accused of having a go at iPhones but here we have another iPhone owner feeling the need to prove that their phone is not all bad. Now I could just ignore it but you will see from my posts below that some things just need correcting as they are untrue and create the wrong perception of the phones knocked!

You were just not using your other phones to their full potential then. I too spend most days searching Symbian forums and websites on the look out for newly released apps, games etc. I am constantly finding new things.

Now this seems strange or perhaps you have just been lucky as I have read reviews and on their it was discussed how the iPhone crashes on numerous occasions for no apparent reason. Even GSM arena on their review talks about the "buggy and unstable" software. Now this obviously could be fixed in due course... but I am also led to believe you cannot MULTI TASK? Correct or not?

We have not once disputed that it looks good. In fact this is the one thing we quite happily concede in it's favour.

This whole if I wanted a camera I would get one argument is the silliest I have heard, and yet you hear it often. You wonder why cell makers bother putting cameras, music players, video viewers, browsers etc on phones if you could just as easily buy a digital camera, mp3 player, digicam and laptop and take it with you!!! STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!

And if you want me to be honest at the moment I probably use my cell camera about 5 times a day on average! And yes I may have a reason at the moment but still when that picture moment presents itself my cell is always closer than the camera!

+ MMS? I would much rather email... it's free! (WiFi)

Choices, choices, choices. And as someone says we are going in circles as this was chatted about extensively by me with Bwana I think. To briefly reiterate, what if the person on the other end is not as technologically literate and has not set their cellphone to receive emails?

We cannot argue that you perceive this to be best phone you have ever owned but we could also conclude that you perhaps did not use your previous phones to their full potential.

Lancelot is begging to get his own iPhone, it's SO obvious in his posts.

How can we start a 'donate for Lancelot's iPhone' club? :)

All I got from the post by LancelotSA was that he really wants an iPhone :D

Seriously... I used all the other phones to their potential and still feel the iPhone is a better all round phone... BUT... I will wait till the G1 Android (google phone) is in my hands before I state that the iPhone is the best phone I owned so far.

NOT Correct.

The jailbreakers have made a util to run apps in the background....

Cool, so at least someone got that sorted.

Kids above : If I wanted an iPhone I'd get one!! Simple really. Now digest that slowly. I AM LOOKING FOR A NEW PHONE! I could choose an iPhone if I felt it was the best! Capisce?!?!?!

Cool, so at least someone got that sorted.

it wasn't a bug in the iPhone software, Apple designed it that way, and is the reason the iPhone is so responsive when switching apps, instead of slowing down like other multi-tasking phones.

In fact, applications can suspend and resume after a phone call and are not obliterated. In the current version, the iPod portion can continue to play music while one is surfing in Safari, so the iPhone certainly is using multitasking. The question really goes to the restrictions Apple has placed on developers to make sure the iPhone operates responsively.
