Asking people who currently use other people’s accounts if they’ll boycott?
Not necessarily but what is the point if I can't watch something in another room while my husband watches what he wants in his workshop?

The whole World is moving towards a ubiquitous experience for streaming and DSTV is moving backwards against the trend. Where is the sense in this? Do they not realise that most people have phones and tablets and laptops and TVs and they want to be able to watch anything at any time in any situation. They should be expanding the streams - not reducing it. With more and more streaming services coming in - SA will soon be spoilt for choice. This will be the straw that breaks the camel's back and I will definitely be looking to either cancel or downgrade as the convenience factor is removed. Really antiquated way of doing business.... they will only have themselves to blame.

There are no ads on Netflix at R99. There are plenty of ads on dstv at ovet R600. And while they boast about 100s of channels, most are total rubbish. Not even slightly interested. They can shove it where the sun don't shine.

Why pay almost R1,000 for DSTV when you can have 3 streaming services for around a third of that cost, without any ads, and full control of what you watch, when you want to watch?

Oh well it’s better if you rip band-aid off in one go I guess. Canceled subscription last month, wife has been using her folks subscription. She is watching Netflix and Amazon Prime 80% of the time anyways

DSTV will not be missed I can assure you.

No I will not boycott DSTV. They have every right to curb the freeloaders. DSTV remains one of the most affordable methods of entertainment in South Africa. Only one person in my household stream at the moment at any time.
Affordable?????
Have you heard of the internet? the WWW?
I dont know if you are joking or just living under a DSTV rock / dish

I cancelled DSTV at the beginning of this month and went with Netflix and Amazon Prime. However, with the invasion of the Ukraine, I now miss the fact that I cannot stay up to date with the developments by way of CNN or BBC or Sky News.

I looked around but cannot find any other proper news channel on Android TV.

Maybe I will subscribe to DSTV again...

If DSTV didnt have supersport they would definetly find themselves gradually fading off the market.

DSTV launched their satellite service in 95 dude.

Unless they're time travellers it's an older tech than 2 decades.

Also... 2 decades is old tech. You using computers from 20 years ago still?

Welcome to the 21st century.
I've got a laptop that's 16 years old! Serves my needs.

Try dw on YouTube

Or NBC

Used DSTV for various non-fiction programmes like quizzes and "Escape to the Country" as well as sport. However, at nearly R1 000 per month I can't afford it anymore. Out of the 200+ channels, I maybe watched 10.
Never watched films or the American, Nigerian crap.

I cancelled my DSTV subscription 5 years ago when I relocated to another province with the idea of re-subscribing at a later stage. We moved into a temporary rental until our house was ready. A couple of months later my wife and I came to realize that we are not really missing it, so we never re-subscribed.

We have Netflix and that is it. The kids watch Netflix and Youtube and me and the wife rarely watch anything.

The only thing I miss is the sport, but not being a sport fanatic, it doesn't hurt too bad, only when the Boks play.

No, I have it for the sport and knew what I signed up for, eventually if I can't afford it so be it then I'm off.
