Yes BF2 crashes but if the OS locks up the OS is to blame, the OS should still function after an app or game crashes.

Then you're lucky and probably have a basic generic setup, I have extras like a tv tuner, Asus soundcard(with dodgy drivers that I can't do much about), and put my system to abuse daily, it fails me every few days.

Look... I don't hate windows, i'm glad it exists I just think it's overated.

Basic generic setup! ROFL, please my system is also abused daily, but in all honesty sounds like dodgy setup on your side.

I doubt my hardware is dodgy lol, I ran linux on the same sytem for more than a year with 100% stability! I moved to mac and now it's just a gaming rig.

If you have driver problems it means you're probably using some cheap hardware made out of someones garage in Zimbabwe...

Surprising how it must be my hardware and not a oversight in the OS. U okes don't really get the fact that windows update needs internet, i.e. a network controller in a working condition for most users. Anyways installed mint on the machine, running nicely!

Dude have you seen one comment about a network card not working in windows 7? I think you have some old cheap piece of kuk that cannot support windows. What does a new network card cost? 69 bucks or something stupid. Hardly something to go so nuts over, obviously very few people have come across this so just install mint and leave windows because it must suck really badly not to able to run on old hardware. You should get hold of microsoft and tell them what a fail windows 7 is because it does not support your 5 year old network card :D.

There is no doubt that windows 7 is the best version of windows though, they copied the OSX dock a decade later so of course it would better now. :D

The dock bar is what I like the most about Windows 7 but then again.... that's why I love OSX :D

Sounds like Aqua needs to buy a new pc or upgrade hardware. I'm also a Windows user and never had a problem since I installed windows 7 Ultimate. I've been running it on overclocked 24/7 since last year November and not one failure to date.

I have basically the same specs as you but 4GB 1066 xms2, quadcore q9300 and 9600GT. Maybe because 7 is pirated makes a difference, that's the only unverified piece of my PC.

Kinda convenient you left that bit of info out?

eish why don't you all get a room and go compare your RAM timings...! Who really cares if your PC can run for weeks on end? Ppl complaining about PCs crashing are like ppl who complain that ther car is not reliable even tho it runs most of the time, unless you designed the damn thing you can't go pointing fingers at what could be the cause.

Windows 7 does not have a database of every piece of hardware made in the last 15 years! Stop blaming the tools! I mean I installed win7 fresh, loaded a copy of borderlands without installing ONE driver (using nvidia gts250 btw) and the game ran flawlessy! No ways XP could ever have gotten that right!

I have had bad exepriences with these cracked or 'FULLY LOADED' OS's in respect of XP. usually they are all eye candy and cool only if you are not gonna connect to the net. Usually these modders or crackers make sure to create backdoor tunnel into your pc so when connected to the net you are pretty much screwed woth all the adware, spyware, trojans etc. With ur pc specs n an original W7 OS you shouldn't have any problems. There's always a catch with cracked versions of software.

Why do people think pirate windows causes problems?

Maybe you get dodgy kuk :D. LOL @ adware, spyware thing. Maybe off torrents but not off news servers, there is no reason to put dodgy kuk on news servers. News servers make loads of money they would never risk their business by putting dodgy virus ridden stuff on the servers for people to pirate. I have used so many versions of windows that are not exactly legit and i have never come across a virus, adware, trojans but i guess if you use warez or torrents it is a possibility :D.

You say there is always a catch using pirated software? Again your sources must be dodgy. These big companies spread rumours about pirated software not being the same to put people off pirating them and it does work with some people.

lol, like I said, it has it's place and for me that is to game... :D

I say it's fragile because I have to restart it every few days, if I don't something will crash the OS, I played BF2 the other night have not restatred in 2 days in the middle of a session the game crashes and I have to reboot because windows can't get back to normal, today I unplugged my PC because I had to clean up and I plugged it back and now my framerates are low, not sure why so I restarted, now I have to figure this out.... if the restart did not fix it.

Can you honestly tell me that you run Windows and don't reboot or shutdown at least every 2 to 3 days? can you run yours 24/7 for weeks? linux and OSX both are able to do this for me.

I never restart my windows operating system though i am on vista and hate it with the passion. I will be getting 7 soon when i have the cash. As for your problems with it maybe you got something you installed wunning in the background.

Os lock ups are rarely to do with the OS i had that issue it came down to my GPU overheating and freezing up the system. On the rare occassion it is the OS but i really doubt it is 7 I think you just don't like it and looking for issues to hate it. Leave it be and wait for 8 to come and it ou don't like that stay on your precious OS X or linux if that what you use.

I had problems with finding W7 drivers for 3 network cards I had. I did the modem dial up thing and then ran W7 update, and Windows found drivers for one of the cards. Unfortunately, that card belonged to another computer. The other 2 cards were not supported (old DFE and Assix 10/100, I think). I could only find drivers for up to WinXP. I eventually went to a local PC shop and bought a Vista supported network card for 50 bucks. W7 is definately worth the effort.

Even on torrentz you must select your downloads very carefully. I downloaded zonealarm pro 2010 v.9 and after installation my system just freezes up with no possiblility of a restore, not even safe mode will help. Had to reformat my hd and from now on I will steer clear of that zonealarm version. 90 % of software from the net is legit and safe but as with all things, notihing is 100% fool proof.

Maybe I'll also start using News servers more than torrentz. Between Megaupload, Rapidshare & Hotfile which one is best in terms of reliability, speed, content and price?

lol dude, newserver companies don't post suff, it's the same users who crack and torrent stuff, sometimes you get somedody torrent stuff then upload it to newservers, both can be dodgy... BTW I got my 7 off the newservers. update works and the miscrosoft virus scanner does not pick up anything.

Dude of course they put the stuff on their servers, you think the millions buying news server bandwidth don't bring in some good money? They upload all the shyte so people can basically pay for it.
