Morning.

First I need to apologise for being a horrible forumer. I work for the most hated company in Sa...no wait that that`s absa :D, I work for the receiver and time here..when there is almlost no time to forum. I miss my younger days when I could talk all day on forums :-)

Anyway, my windows has gone wonkers. I wish now that I had made a screenprint. I`m not sure if it has gone wonkers or if my other half or daughter are the cuplrits, I just need it fixed.

I do photos. so I import them directly from lightroom into the pictures under folders with date names. Yesterday I came to the pc and no more folders. There are little dates and underneath them all my pics are displayed. It also will not show the pics as thumbnails anymore, just that normal windows picture that shows when you have them on list. doesn`t matter what size i choose.

I`ve checked all the folder view settings (though i have no idea what half of it means)

If anyone has any idea of what I`m trying to explain, please help. It will be greatly appreciated by this closet forum person :-)

Hi, yes. Reading it now I see that it makes no sense at all. I can only make a screenshot tonight as the pc is at home, but will try again.

In my pictures I had folders, their names were just dates as in 22/08/2011 abd 25/07/2011 etc, the dates that the photo`s were taken on. Inside those folders were more folders. Edited, mail size, raw etc as normal explorers look. Now when I click on the pictures link in explorer, there are no folders. The dates are there, shows as text with a line next to it, and below that it shows the files, there is no tree to get to the folders that were inside them, and when I right click on the date at the top of the screen I can expand or collapse all ?? When I expand, it`s like the dates in text and below them the files, no images show, its just a little image icon, and when i collapse it shows the dates in a list to the bottom.

A screenshot will make more sense a I will def post one tonight. I`m stumped. Really.??

Hey Hey

The quickest and easiest solution to a lot of Windows 7 wonky niggles is a system restore to the date before the wonkyness invaded.

System Restore is enabled by default, so unless you deactivated it, it should still be functional.

Sometimes other users register all sorts of changes while running similar software... and suddenly it all behaves weird... system restore can turn this back in most cases.

I would suggest a quick restore to the day BEFORE you noticed this, or nearest date, and see if this helps. If not, then we need to roll-up our sleeves and fiddle more!

Screenshots as promised. The rest of my explorer files and folders are fine. I don`t mind if it changes on me, i mean change is as good as a holiday right, but I had folders inside these folders with edited pics that took me hours and hours

Eish...

See if you can locate them "outside" of the library. Look in their original location... probably C:\Users\* Your UserName *\Pictures.... perhaps they have just been removed from the library ?

If they are also not there... then the only thing I can think of is look in the recycle bin ? It seems as if they have been either moved or deleted.

Right click in an empty space in the Library and choose View> go through the options until you find your view.
Also right click and choose Sort By> Name> Ascending.

Alternatively you can reset all folder views to default.

Yes, in the original folder they are all fine like they should be. Who broke my pictures shortcut, and how do I fix it ???

Thanks for all the help.

I have tried that already, it just stays in the "group view" no folders, where i can collapse and expand the funny dates. the views changes the icons and the way it displays but no folders are comming back.

Edited to add, I have tried last night to reset to defaults.

Don't use Group by. It should be set to none  that's your problem...

Aaaaaargh.... I FIXED IT, instead of going to folder views in control panel options, I just clicked on the pictures and went to those properties and reset those defaults.

Now.....if I just know what I fixed....:wtf:

As said before, you were using the Group by view option....

HeyHey

Right click in the wonky folders and select "Expand All Groups"... you have them all collapsed. I see that now, my flu muti has klapped my vision!

If the above helps, then you can right click again click on "Arrange by" and select "Clear changes".

Now you should have them unwonky!

EDIT: Curse THAT other thread... read and replied late. Glad you're sorted!
