Xbox Series X / S

I really like the story driven action/adventure type games, a lot of the first party Sony stuff is exactly this like Horizon, God of War, Uncharted, Last of Us, the new Spiderman games, etc. These first party games also tend to release in a mostly finished state so first impressions are generally always pretty solid.
I enjoy those too, which is why I've always had both and will get a PS as soon as the stock issue stabilises and I've moved house.

The point being if you could only choose one, the Xbox offers more value. Value which is only going to increase as those studios start coming into play...

That's the thing, value is only determined by what the individual puts value in. If I had to only pick one I would still pick the PS5 as those games I care about offer me much more value than anything in the Xbox catalog currently, and I won't buy something because of the potential for it to be better at something in the future.

Just got a call from Seabourne Express telling me my replacement unit is ready for collection. I’ll collect tomorrow. Hopefully the replacement unit works fine. I’ll give you all an update tomorrow afternoon.
Hi all. Just finished set up of my replacement unit. I’m still having the same issue, unfortunately.

Started by downloading Apple TV, done quickly and successfully. Attempted to download the Wireless Display (a Microsoft app) to no success. Then I tried to download Forza Horizon 4, refuses to download. Now I’m installing GTA 5 and it’s downloading without a problem.

Does it make sense to rule out the console now? What’re the chances that I’d have the same issue across two consoles?

I now suspect it might be my network but I don’t know where to start troubleshooting that.

Hotspot Cell phone and see if it starts downloading. just kill it before it eats all your data ;)

Where are you located? You are welcome to come try my network. I'm in Roodepoort.

Or try @AlphaJohn 's idea. Which is a quick way to test.

Issue with your ISP most likely

I see Cyberpunk 2077, is R499. is this a good deal?
i know there were a lot of issues with the original release but recently it's been getting good reviews

For what it is and depending on how many " bugs " are still in the game then maybe yes.

I used mine as a frisby for the Golden and Lab !! but hey if you haven't played it then try it out, to bad you know of no one who owns a copy so you can borrow first ?

If you're on next gen, yes. Awesome game.

If you're on previous gen, probably not until most of the issues are fixed...

Could be ISP related blocks.
I saw a suggestion somewhere that to get local matches in FIFA people were blocking certain servers on their setups in the routers, I assume you haven't tried something similar

You checked your NAT type ?

I had that problem once, my app's wouldn't download if I was connected to 1 particular router, so I had to connect it directly via ethernet to the router and vwaaalaa ! sorted

Try connect your Xbox to another network, try even tethering to your phone ? LTE router ? ( basically different ISP )

An ISP wouldn't block Game Pass downloads but allow others. This seems to be an issue with his account...

That is the part that confuse me the most...but i have had odd crap happen before with incorrect block list on my pi:hole so wont rule it out totally unless i tested on a clean network ie: cellphone hotspot

Yes, highly recommend running your Xbox through a “pure” DNS server like 1.1.1.1 and not a PiHole/AdGuard as it makes all sorts of kak with analytics and even achievements.

Pretty sure they use a lot of that to determine servers etc.

I can confirm that the issue seems to be with my ISP. I connected the console to a mobile hotspot and all of the downloads I was complaining about previously started progressing.

My ISP is BeBroadband (SADV) and, according to the console, my NAT Type is Strict. It’s a symmetrical fibre connection, 20 Mbps. I’m using a MikroTik router for WiFi.

Now having established this, how would I go about resolving the ISP issue? Is it reasonable of me to expect the ISP to resolve this matter by themselves or is there something I could do on my side?

Thank you all for the tips and suggestions so far. You’ve been amazing!

I did attempt to open up certain ports on my router as suggested by some post on the MS/Xbox support website. It didn’t yield results.
