Xbox Series X / S

It's honestly much quicker for me to delete a game and redownload it than to move it between drives. 50 GB done in 15 minutes, enough time to go make a coffee or get a snack.

If it's something you do frequently then it may be worthwhile upgrading your line speed. The price difference between 100 Mbps and 500 Mbps is not that big (at least on Vuma), but difference in experience is huge...

Nah I’m on 250Mb.

The annoyance is rather that the drive is full and things download to the external. Then when you want to play it you need to move it first.

I just feel it’s something Microsoft should be able to address quite easily.

Especially since we have Quick Play or whatever it’s called it should be possible to “stream” a game from the external to the internal SSD and start it up almost instantly.

Sure but it's pointless having the game downloaded to the external, because the transfer speed between the external and the SSD is slower than just downloading it with faster internet.

What you're asking for is kind of available to a certain extent. At a certain point during the download you can start playing while the rest of the game downloads. Not ideal but it's better than nothing...

The MS servers are almost never full speed though
Never really had an issue with wired. It does tend to fluctuate sometimes, but still averages out to under 25 minutes for 50GB.

The only time I've noticed a considerable drop is while playing a game, or having games cached on quick resume. And according to MS that's by design...

Took me 2 minutes to copy 100Gig from a cheap external SSD to the Xbox internal drive.

Don’t know what external you are using but it’s definitely faster than downloading, just not by a very meaningful margin.

100MB ish per second versus 62.5 MB/sec on a 500 mbit/sec and far more consistent.

I thought with the recent storage updates something clever was being done but all it really does is finally put non-X games on the external by default and X ones on the SSD until it’s full and then at least doesn’t stall out all downloading any more and drops it on the external instead.

That’s nonsense.

Not even with the official expensive SSD add-on card is it that fast.

5 minutes mayyyybe but likely double that.

Presumably you were looking at “Microsoft time” which has a history of being deeply inaccurate.

Too little time to game or nothing on the platform worth playing?
Well, I have a gaming PC, so play pretty much everything on there.

Bought the X-Box when I didn't have the PC.

Only game I play on the X-Box is Warframe every now & then.

Pointless selling the thing because okes will only pay like R3k for it, so I'll rather keep it than sell it for such a low price.

So how is buying it money wasted as you had a use for it back then before buying the PC?

Your argument is flawed.

For the amount I paid, and the time I spent on it, I see it as wasted.

The ROI for me is wasted.
