I have a friends HP Pav DV6000 laptop. I deactivated native SATA support ran the install from the XP CD. The HP recovery runs a distructive recovery and reboots. That's when I get a MBR ERROR I restarted the machine booted from the cd again went into the repair console ran fixmbr this seems liked it went through fine in less than 5 seconds. Whe I then reboot the machine it says OPERATNG SYSTEM NOT FOUND

What is my next move ?

yes, same place you found fixmbr. I would assume choose the drive that the oS is installed on.

Ok I did that and still got the same result. I then tried bootcfg all well and fine but it asks me for load identifier then os load options.

I am clueless about this :D

Now where do I do that? In the repair console?

I must mention that when I go into the repair console I get the option of 4 drives I can select.

4 drives on a laptop? That's kinda wierd, was Linux involved with it somewhere along the line? If so then you need to delete its partitions and then as blaaislaai says.
