Vodacom announced the launch of a new Prepaid tariff plan called Yebo4Less. This tariff plan offers customers variable discounts based on the customers location and time of day.

The tariff plan is a per second tariff plan with a flat standard base rate that is applicable all day; i.e. there is no differentiation between peak and off-peak.

The following call charges and discounts are applicable on the Yebo4Less Tariff:

Peak & Off PeakStandard Charges Maximum Discount

On Net - Vodacom to Vodacom R 2.60 99%

Off Net - Vodacom to Other R 2.89 65%

The discounts are based on the time of the day and how busy the network is where the customer is located. Vodacom will determine these discounts on an hourly basis.

Yebo4Less customers will be able to obtain discounts of up to 99% on Vodacom to Vodacom national calls and up to 65% on calls to other networks, i.e. MTN, Cell C, Virgin, Telkom and Neotel. Customers can view the discounts by switching on the Cell Broadcast option on their phone or they can dial *111*444#. Cell Broadcast is not available on the 3G network.

Please note that the discount is only applicable to national voice and 3G video calls and excludes premium rated numbers and any data services.

Existing Prepaid customers will be able to migrate to Yebo4Less, via FreeChange by simply calling 1181 from their cellphone (free of charge) or dialling *111# from their cellphone and choosing option 7. Customers are able to change their prepaid tariff plan once ever 30 days free of charge. The customer’s airtime value, Talking Points and any SMS or Data bundle will remain intact after FreeChange.

New customers will be required to purchase a new Vodacom prepaid starter pack and use FreeChange (by calling 1181 or *111#) to change to the Yebo4Less tariff plan option.

Customers on the Yebo4Less tariff plan will continue to earn Talking Points when recharging with airtime vouchers; however, they will not be able to redeem their Talking Points for airtime bundles or call discounts. Talking Points can only be redeemed for cellphones and SMS bundles.

Vodacom 99% off calls

Dial 1181 move to yebo4less

*111*777# to view

Just like MTNzone it works with area, but Vodacom gaves off call to other networks too!

"With Yebo4Less, you can now get discounts of up to 99% off calls to other Vodacom numbers (on-net calls) and discounts of up to 65% off calls to other networks (off-net calls).

Additionally, you also get a guaranteed minimum discount of 50% off calls made during off-peak times, to any number! You only pay for what you have to say – with Yebo4Less per second billing applies.

When you opt in via FreeChange to the Service all accumulated on-net airtime discounts redeemed with Talking points will be lost."

why dont they have cool stuff like this for contract customers???

Really?

Up to 99% as well hey?

perhaps getting another simcard and refuse using the contract card will pinch them a little...

A quick calculation says I'd be saving a decent amount of cash compared to my prepaid 4U plan. Most of the savings appear to be during peak, with possibly a slight "loss" compared to 4U during off-peak.

OK, somebody here does not have their story straight. The Y4L tarriff plan on the VC site (http://www.vodacom.co.za/services/yebo4less/cost.jsp) says:

Peak: R2.60 All networks
Off-peak: VC: R2.60 Other R1.20

Judging by the R1.20, I'd say the info on the website is screwed & v3g's rates are right.

Also, v3g, the info on my cell (60%) does that indicate a 60% discount or 60% percentage charge of standard rate.

I'd also be interested in whether the calculation of the discounts will shift depending on the number of people switching to Y4L? Is it dependent on the number of Y4L people per tower or the total VC people per tower?

This is a direct copy of MTN's Zone isnt it?
If its a good idea, then a lack of originality is forgivable...assuming copyright etc are sorted.

I'd also like to know what the current discount rate is without having to switch.
My cell says "60% VC, 55% Other" atm. I'm in an average suburban area in PTA.

On the whole, I'd say its a good idea & has significant savings for consumers:cool:...VC just needs to sort out some of the confusing aspects.

Wow just changed over to this, I think this is fantastic news!

perhaps getting another simcard and refuse using the contract card will pinch them a little...

I just don't understand why they would want to prejudice their contract customers who are a guranteed revenue stream each month.

Full article and comparison with MTN Zone to follow...

Much needed :)

And some feedback as to when contract customers are going to see some kind of actual benefit for staying dutifully on contract each month.

The info I received from VC and the website info are not the same - hope to get the 3 rd side of the story soon :D
