Your Favourite Open Source Software?

Essence. Some of those basic things like tabbed Windows and the bold text for open files etc. and you realise how little Windows has changed on the frontend all these years.
Yeah, always good to see some innovation.

Can anyone recommend software suitable for monitoring the quality of my home fibre connection to the Internet ?

Nothing fancy required; that said, preferably software that can measure the quality of the line (e.g. dropped packets, dropped connections, jitter etc.) over several days.

I'm having a minor scrap with my ISP: the support staff feel that all that is necessary is a local ping <sigh>

I can't say I've used anything quite like this myself. Would Smokeping or Cacti be worth looking at maybe?

I presume you don't want anything as complex as a Zabbix or a Nagios type set up - not even sure if they can monitor what you want.

Many thanks for the suggestions. To be honest, I'm not sure what I am looking for at this stage it is mainly something to prove that I am right, and that the ISP is not

I installed Open Visual Traceroute yesterday as a starter. If you use tracert then you need this program !

Well that's going on the list for sure!

I have come across that before but had forgotten about it. Good recommendation.
Only with pleasure. One minor warning: it requires a full Java download i.e. not just the JRE

BTW Jellyfin

Not quite, used it to test one of my own sites.
Oh. I thought for a moment that you might have become a hacktivist and embarked on crusade to relieve the corrupt of South Africa of their ill-gotten gains and repurpose the funds for good.

/leaves disappointed
