Zest T1

I'm having a problem with Google navigation...

whenever i pan the map, or pinch to zoom, or when i take a turn and the map screen needs to redraw, the whole app just crashes and exits.

i'm not sure if it is the problem with the app (so google's fault) or if it specific to the zest. Does anyone else have this problem?

Same problem here. Maps is useless

There's definitely some issues with the battery, I've tested some Phones, and some behave exactly the same - stays at a certain percentage, then dead as a doornail. This was all tested on stock firmware with the last update 23 June (Kernel version 3.4.67_Mon_JUN_23_2014) Build no. (Zest_T1_Africa_20140623) V.4.4.2 KIT KAT.

It seems like everybody was making plenty of money off us after all.
3800 units x 2000 = 7 600 000
4000 units (purchased) x 1500*(estimate cost of unit) = (6 000 000)
R10* Cost per gig x 12 months x 3800 units = (456 000)

PROFIT in less than a WEEK! = 1 144 000

The sad part is that MTN smiles to the bank with half of that.

*Using conservative estimates

Hi guys, am a new Zest T1 owner. Just wanna check if anyone else experiencing the following with the phone...

Airdroid: When I try and drop a file in the upload screen of the sdcard, I get a "Failed to upload. Network error". Uploading works elsewhere, because dropping the file to the phone partition (say... the "Download" folder) is successful. I formatted the (new) sdcard in the Storage settings before trying to use Airdroid to transfer files to it. Is this an Airdroid/setting issue?

Backlight on the 3 capacitive buttons: Mines stay on in standby and even when the phone is switched off. It is not full-on bright... could say it's half bright in standby and off mode. Is this normal operation of the button backlights?

Yup. If mine is fully charged or near it anyway and I remove the battery - as soon as I insert the battery again it's on 5%.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too.
think some are returning or cancelling. I managed to order 3 but have cancelled 2 hopefully (one on route and one returned because of invalid IMEI number) until the issues with wifi, whatsapp messages not getting through and gps signal loss errors are fixed.

Quite like this phone. The hardware performs well thanks to it running the latest version of Android with all optimizations. I do recommend using the Android L keyboard and enable ART runtime in the developer options for better performance.

One issue I have is that I can't change the lock screen wallpapers to anything other than the stock set, which are nice, but I would like the option. Installing the Google Now launcher also makes the home screen and lock screen wallpapers separate. By no means a dealbreaker.

Otherwise I can recommend this phone. The touchscreen responsiveness is not quite there but it's passable. The performance is suprisingly smooth with ART enabled. Battery life seems good, display is good and the value is fantastic. I'm also pretty sure this will get Android L soon after release, since the Zest team seems to care about updates.
