Zest T1

Managed to get CWM on but it gets cleared on the next reboot, there is a file that causes the recovery partition to be overwritten from stock and I cant seem to get rid of this file. Hopefully I will find a way and then hopefully changes to root will stick.

Have tried many root programs and techniques and the only one that seems to have any light at the end of the tunnel is SP Flash tool with MTK Droid.

You the man - looks like you'll be spearheading the Zest hack team! Isn't dual sim likely to be a problem, I wonder if CM stock handles 2 sim cards? e.g. needs a setup menu entry, a dialer entry, a display on the status bar at the top etc

Hope you find a solution ... I too tried but to no avail. I will keep a beady eye on this thread for news. Thanks.

Patiently waiting for your "How To" to find its way to the masses

I had a similar issue on my Note, turned out to be the battery, a good test, keep the phone plugged into the charger a see if it does the same...

Ah thanks for the reply, actually had a feeling it could be the battery. Will test later today and see if that helps

Got the phone yesterday. Pretty impressed so far.

I only have two issues with it.
1. The partitioning on the storage is kinda meh. Only 1 gig is classified as internal storage, so you'll run out fairly quickly if you install a bunch of apps.
2. The flash has a yellow tint to it, which makes all pictures taken with the flash to have yellow tinted edges.

Got mine earlier today. Gr8 so far apart from the screen responsiveness being a bit iffy it's a solid phone.

3G speeds seems to be what expected.

Mine arrived just now. It's bleh. Well - okay. For R2k it is a good deal considering the data add-on.

Bit bulky as a satnav device so will probably take the S2 back from my boy and use that, and give him the Zest. He will appreciate the bigger screen. Will see...

Got the invalid imei. Been in contact with them for 3 days. Highly unimpressed. They said they would fix it via team viewer yesterday, and I'm still waiting. Suggestions anyone?

We definitely looking into the storage issue as it has been mentioned. Will also mention the issues you have with the flash :(

depending on whether it's the same issue, I don't think it can be fixed. We'll most likely have to replace the unit.

Do you have a ticket reference you can PM me?

My proposal regarding storage: change everything to internal storage. Users can buy SD cards for extra storage.
Given half a chance, this is what I would do with this phone if I could.

Oh, and thanks for noticing and taking the time to reply- and showing that you are indeed listening to customers :)

Zest themselves claim it's a 60 second fix. From what i understand they rewrite the imei. Why would they mention teamviewer then? They seem to be going out to people in jhb

Can anybody please advise if the Blackberry charger is compatible with the Zest T1. Also has mini-usb connection to phone.
I have a Blackberry car charger and would like to use it for the Zest.

It should be fine with any standard mini-USB charger. The Afrihost MiFi should use the same as well.

It's a pleasure - wish I'd found this thread sooner. AfriGuy and I will try and answer as much as we can today and tomorrow.

Please PM us if you have any burning questions that are not being answered :)

If you're dealing with Zest directly via their Facebook page, then I won't contradict them. But if you're not getting any joy, please let me know.

Got the phone swapped out yesterday and must say, now I'm really impressed. Afrihost support did take about an hour trying to do the set-up before conceding, but the coffee was good enough to make up for the wait.

Glad it was sorted. The coffee is great - hope you also tried the massage chair ;)

And if they collect it then they'll take 2 days and then that's only to pick it up:/nvm the replacement

So I charged this thing on Monday evening. Running at 13% now with light-normal use. If this battery performs like this consistently, I'll be one happy chappy.

Not bad at all. Also been getting very decent standby time on my demo unit :)

I was dealing with them direct on Facebook yes. Now they just don't reply
