The Accelerate was supposed to launch in October. Last I heard was that launch was postponed to January 2015.
I was holding out for this phone to replace my S3, but now I'm not so sure.
Thanks! Sounds like it's quadband GSM then, which should work everywhere (USA is 850 and 1900, according to Wikipedia), and I guess I'll have to see if 3G data works. Out of interest, where did you find this information?

But in all seriousness, when ads on olx/gumtree give more specs about a product than the official product website .... that is a clear signal to run. Away that is. Far away.
I support the suggestion to have a look at the Moto G. Believe you me I'm not an agent or what ever,I have a T1 in a 900mhz zone and can't get 3G so I know all about the Zest and have contacted Zest but no reply...why sell a phone that does not work in all areas of South Africa.Mtn are 900/2100mhz.

Excluding our first-hand experiences and just looking at the specs - they're decent. It would be great if Zest would give us vanilla lollipop and hopefully settle this once and for all
Tru Bru,I like the phone besides the non 3G in my area.I have just bought a new battery from Zest because of the quick draining but made no diffs...only 1600mAh so will have to live with it

Also thought about getting an extra battery... But decided against it (no giving them an extra cent of my $$$) and bought the cheapest and smallest power bank I could find rather.

The 3g thing, curious, but seeing as as the said it supports the 900MHz band, are you sure you set the 3g connection to the right network? Only one sim at a time can be on 3G. Both data and video call in settings under sim management should be the same (3g) network. You probably know this- but I'm just trying to help, for in case.
Afrihost/MTN is my data provider with Vodacom being for voice. Apart from this week only, having almost zero connectivity in Midrand at my office, my phone picks up H+ just fine on the MTN network.

Zest T1 supports GSM 900MHz, not 3G 900MHz. 3G on the T1 is limited to 850/2100MHz.
Afaik:
CellC runs 900 & 2100
MTN runs 900 & 2100
Vodacom runs 2100
So there are without a doubt areas where the Zest T1 will not be able to access proper 3G services.

Np. It can be quite confusing since the Zest T1 was supposedly ""Designed in South Africa"" so one would've assumed that 3G support over 900 & 2100 would be stock standard. But no. Of course I am completely oblivious to the limitations of the chips/radio chip-sets used in these phones. The 900&2100 capability might have bumped the cost of the unit significantly and was thus not the avenue they opted for - Unfortunately I do not have all the facts at my disposal.
Since buying the spare battery I found this JuiceDefender app which has given my battery a new lease on life.At least an extra 12 hours although I'm not always on the phone.

JuiceDefender, as with all of the similar apps, will work if you customise it to your general usage pattern.Must still give it a go on my Zest
In other news. The turnaround time for my ZestT1 replacement was awesome and my brand new phone was with me was quite a bit faster than what I suspected. They collected on Wednesday the 12th. They got it the 13th. I received the parcel on Monday the 17th.
And of course, was dreading this, but expecting it in some way, I am now sitting here to write them an email. This brand new phone has some quirks! Sigh. When I turn the brightness all the way down to conserve battery power, the screen sitS and ... flicker in a way. As if someone is sitting and toying with the brightness setting. Such fun. Probably going to cost me another R100 courier fee.
