on which backbone are you? go to speedtest.net, run a speed test to see on which backbone you are (LH side below the spedtest window.

smtp.openweb.co.za:(setting in Outlook 2013).....error as follows...
"on 5/22/2013 10:05 PM
503 valid RCPT command must precede DATA"

In thunderbird with setting smtp.openweb.co.za it says"error timed out, cannot connect to server, try again later"--well, it is two days later now...heheheh

sounds to me more like misconfiguration of a mail client. if outlook can connect but thunderbird not...

are you able to ping the server, or even better connect onto it via telnet on port 25... that way you will know whether the servers are up or not.

Keyword here will be "OpenWeb" as per the thread title...

i had a quick look. your problem is sender verification. so IS' mail servers verify all senders to make sure it's not some fake email address trying to send out spam.

the mail server is connecting back to the MX for openweb.co.za to verify your email address that you are sending from. the MX is responding back with 550 telling the smtp server that the email address doesnt exist; hence your email not being relayed.

i can't recall if openweb actually sells email addresses (@openweb.co.za) with their dsl accounts, but this is something MrBeep will have to answer.

the problem is not with the server, but with the corresponding MX for openweb.co.za unable to verify "your email address" as [email protected]. (replace xxxx with your real username)

Openweb has many backbone providers for their packages they offer.

"Internet Solutions"?????

then smtp.isdsl.net is an alternative for IS backbone

misconfig is the problem then.

How must I email your support.....if my email doesn't sent mail??????????

Maybe you should follow this chap's advice.

Sounds very much like you trying to send email from an invalid email address.

Please ensure you have a working email address configured in the Reply to field.

I would also suggest you request an @openweb.co.za from us, so that we can ensure that all is well on the 'from' side.

This is unacceptable......... 10mbps Gold Uncapped - local speed test.

Online games completely unplayable. Those low ports are being shaped again. Getting 15000+ millisecond pings to my game server in Sweden. Usually its 200ms - 300ms.

This is not normal. Kindly email [email protected] so that we can investigate.

There are no general issues on the network. I can also confirm that you would NOT be shaped to these levels, thus there is a fault that needs to be investigated.
