MTN Choice contract builder launched online

does mychoice products count as a "contract" which can have Afrihost bolted on

R35 a month for voice and SMS functionality is quite a plus.

Unfortunately the site sucks so bad its not apparent how to use it.

And then I realized you have to register to use the service......mhe /close broswer window

A straightforward 99c per minute does the trick for me. :D

Simpler, easier, it just works, less hassle, subsidized phone.

Why would anyone not a student be on prepaid?

Why is a contract easier and less hassle than prepaid? If you're referring to the need to topup then I'm afraid you're still stuck in the nineties. With FNB I have a scheduled monthly topup that automatically tops up my prepaid account every month. I never have to think about it.

You've got it wrong, only poor people need subsidised phones. I just buy my phones cash, no need to be any cellphone companies bitch for 24 months.

I'm so glad you can predict your usage every month. Unfortunately I'm a human, not a robot. I cannot predict what my usage will be next month.

There are better things in life to worry about than my prepaid balance.

I just automatically load R300 onto my prepaid sim card every month. It's exactly the same as having a top-up contract, without the 24-month vaseline action. I never go over R300, if I do then I'm very glad that I can't unknowingly ring up a large bill. If I need more airtime then I just topup manually, which is exactly what you would have to do on top-up contract anyway. So again, not really much of a difference from a contract.

I think their pricing is pretty decent actually........ WAY better than the anytime contracts

Yeah, like trying to earn enough to pay for your expensive contract with MTN or Vodacom, of which you don't even use all the minutes as its a set amount at the maximum you might use per month.

This is the only reason why I even bothered to google for a link of this builder. It definitely smells like a CONtract. I'm willing to look at it purely for the convenience of having the option to throw an Afrihost APN bolt-on in the mix :D

At least mtn has lowered call charges on this new contracts, but cell c 99c is still cheaper, just wondering if the new prices will apply to the current contracts
