You might notice if you have 4mb line it should sync around 5mb now.

Only for people on new DSLAM and IMAX units.

Not sure if it is permanent ,so far I have few people that reported it.

Only know of CPT people that was upgraded.

Free 1mb upgrade is better than nothing :P

In Durbs things are still normal

Data Rate Up : 507
Data Rate Down : 4095

What part of cape town is this?

Isn't that new "Intelligent" DSLAM ports that automatically detects the highest speed
your line can handle and adjusts the speed accordingly...?

Spoke to a buddy at Telkom. While the details are sketchy, they are doing this for certain lines to see if they can handle 5Mbps.Its a free upgrade if you've received it

how about upgrading other exchanges also Telkom. ffs. future neighborhoods my hairy ass.

Check you modem diagnostics, especially the up and down stream noise measurements.

With 1095 down, you should be getting about 1024 up as a data/transfer rate

Your ping will also increased which is bad for gaming especially overseas server. Asked Charl to fixed my line 3 days ago then yesterday it synced at 5mb again

Mine was upgraded to 5mb a week or so ago. It looks like it pushed it up to an acceptable noise margin and stopped. cant complain tho. line seems quite stable.

Ok confirmed this new tweaking program rolling out atm.

"
Telkom is running this program with is raising the line speeds slightly, so people are getting closer to what they actually pay for .

They are still rolling this out country wide, and can only do about 20000 clients a day..
But I woke up this morning, and my 2meg line was syncing at 2,5meg. "

Mine is still 4096 Kbps in the Cape Town CBD. Does it make a difference if Afrihost handles my line?

On Bramley 9 IMAX 0114400xxxx
Using OpenServe (Afrihost) as line provider
