Has any other iBurst subscriber experianced slow speeds on youtube? Every other site goes as normal, however youtube cannot even get to 200kbps at 2 o'clock in the morning, where I usually got 700-800kbps.

agreed, was trying to stream earlier and it was barely streaming where as normally i could just click play to watch a vid

I've seen youtube go dead slow before, but I haven't used in the past few days.

Probably a problem on their side. :(

You tube is definitely slower. Wouldn't know about steam as I only installed it this weekend, but it seems to be crawling along, even when nothing else is active and I know my connection can do about 800kbps.

I was going to ask the same question. On my side, it definitely looks "capped", and has done for the last week and a bit.

The reason I say capped is you should see how level my bandwidth monitor graph is. Unless I go anywhere else on the net. Only then will it go above the 200k limit.

I streamed a few videos 2 days ago and the speed was at about 144kb/s. Other sites gave me around 550kb/s, so they must be shaping YouTube now.

I doubt they would bother to shape a single site, the shaping doesn't (or shouldn't) apply to http with their current terms and conditions.

I loaded a video fine off youtube this morning though, but I didn't watch the speed.

I think they might have shaped .flv traffic on their network. But is there anyway of finding out?

Everytime I call to complain, they ask me to do the speedtest, which I know will run at normal speeds, then they do that Dr. TCP process, which is all useless, if it is just one sight that does not perform.

And it would not surprise me if they did shape Youtube. Imagine how many users on their network would be streaming videos.

I download a lot of .flv's at full speed from a few sites.

I just checked Youtube though, the site loads very fast (probably cached) and I can stream videos fine. It was only loading at around 450kbps, but that was enough to stream.

No issue with Youtube, running fine from Gardens tower 9.5G account...

EDIT: Above statement no longer holds true.

OK, now I'm sick and tired of this cr@p.

Is there any tool I can use to see if the connection to Youtube is shaped? One thing I noticed, is that on clips that dont have video, and are just audio with a still picture, they go at normal speeds, but the clips with video and sound go at 150kbps MAX, at this time in the morning.:mad::mad:

There has to be someway of knowing?

Download DU meter and watch the speeds as you load a video. I'm not sure how else you can tell if the connection is shaped though, but I doubt it is.

Youtube videos are still fine for me.

dunno if this adds any value to the conversation but i've noticed that at any given time your link to an international site wont ever be more than about 50kB/s. It just seems like the international link is structured that way.
Im on 4mb adsl and sometimes struggle with youtube videos. Seems like the only way you can improve it is if u managed to connect with multiple threads to the site (ala multi threaded downloads)

Shaping

Definitely being shaped, i used to get YouTube videos at 100KBs, now it is a constant 15KBs. This is just plain ridiculous, now iBurst is actually good for nothing.

I remember Youtube vids downloading very slowly a while ago, but they have been fine for a long time. Just loaded a video to test; went at 400-500kbps, which is slower than normal downloads. :o

Nothing around 15KB though, I still doubt if one site would be shaped.
