Yet another car question: Honda S2000 currently available

Yet another car thread... I found an advert for a 2000 Honda S2000 with 98,0000km (14,000/pa) on the clock, accident free, etc, etc. for R178,000

Anyone have experience with the car? Or care to give feedback on it?

Wish SARS would send me a check, might make a good deposit :D
 
S2000s are very nice cars, I was about to buy one when they first came about but they were horribly overpriced (380 000 brand new)..

The first models had a serious problem with the back coming out at high speeds during corners, had no stability. A lot of them were written off/in serious accidents.

Other than that, revving to 9000 is always a good thing ;)
I dont really like that its a convertible, but ive looked around on the net and you can buy a hardtop conversion for it (kind of like the Mazda mx5 has) and it looks sick.

98 000kms is quite a bit, but honda engines normally last a very long time...
they also a lot of fun to play with with regards to conversions etc..

Before you buy it, do a search for the Honda S2000 type S.. just released, looks amazing :)
 
Do you think 98,000km is high for a 2000? Its only about 1,150km/pm?

It can only be a Honda if its done 980000km ! :D
 
98000kms is high for any car, im thinking in terms of resale value though..
And more especially for a car like an s2000 which is a 'boy racer'.

Often people assume that 'boy racers' with high enough kms have been driven to the ground = low selling price.

But like I said, 98000kms on a honda engine isnt bad, they can take it..

I used to kill my vtec everywhere i went! haha

Nope, thats fairly reasonable especially when you consider it is a "driving car", i.e. one that you drive for pleasure too as opposed to just for transport.
 
Does anyone know any decent Honda dealerships I could phone and ask questions about a 2000 S2000?

Just want to get their feeling, service costs, price I should offer based on millage, etc.

They any good from personal experience?

I just want to be able to chat to someone competent... I had a look online, and can't find any real faults with the car, design wise.

I just got my SARS returns back, minus the cheque, but at least I know I have a deposit on the way.

Ive never attempted to buy a Honda. I just know a guy that works there, not sure what he does... used to go with some friends to pick up their bikes after its been fixed/serviced, they pretty good I think.
 
Found the one I want :) Just need to find out as much as possible about it.
 
a 2000 model? i find that odd!

Nice cars, was second choice to my Z
 
98000kms,is reasonable but depends,if that was smooth done kilo's or harddriven,best advise get an AA report on the vehicle and take a decision from there
 
So... I took the car for a test drive, it needs two new front tires, and is under 1000km away from its next service... It seems in good condition, obviously due to i being a private sale the financing house will insist on an AA test... If it is completely accident free and in good condition... Think I should ask for the next service to be done, and tires replaced? Remember, tires on a sports car are about R2000 each.

Its a rear wheel drive car so those tires were at the back. Get them to change all 4 tyres.

R2000 each??? Nah I doubt that lol...

Heres an idea put the smooth tyrs at the back and go drifting!!:p
