How to monitor a USB type UPS from Linux?

Hi all

I have a UPS with a USB type connector, which I want to use on a Linux machine, but can't seem to figure out how to get Linux to monitor the UPS. The included CD has UPSilion 2000, with a Linux driver as well, but I can only see how to make it use the serial port. But the UPS itself doesn't have a serial port.

Any suggestions?
 
Did you perhaps mean UPSilon 2000?
It might be possible to use a USB to serial converter with the software they provide:

I have used that upsmon software before with the Powercom UPSs we have. It's just a command-line daemon that polls the battery and shuts down based on the voltage reading. I stopped using that binary-only upsmon stuff when I found NUT:

- usbhid-ups supports various manufacturers complying to the HID standard,
- tripplite_usb supports various Tripp-Lite units,
- bcmxcp_usb supports various Powerware units.

I've not used any UPSs with a USB interface, so good luck testing that for us. :D
 
Apologies for the necro. Was anyone able to figure out how to get the USB working in Linux?
 
Upgrade to freebsd ;) Supports the USB UPSs out of the box
 
Which UPS are you guys using?
And the price.

It would be great if manufacturers built a UPS into the Power Supply as well.
