So now suddenly he says it's the unplanned maintenance (energy problem) and not a capacity problem where we're the "victims of our own success". I wonder if he'll get called on that...
Must get a screenshot in to replace my Ivy Doughnut target at work. (It was getting kinda worn out anyway).

yes means "you guys should be lined up and shot" ?
ToxicBunny

Fsck me... this boy is lying like a fscking dog.
He now just said, nobody said this wouldn't have a hit on the economy... right, maybe someone needs to show him what other ministers have said.

Yup, yes means you guys should be lined up and shot.

Sorry for him - but it is recorded in the press - probably on TAPE.
Duhwin probably thinks no one recorded him - forgot cameras have batteries....
What is Poll count BTW?
ToxicBunny
03-02-2008, 07:54 PM
Now he says its not an issue of lack of skills, and lack of maintenance
Well, again he obviously doesn't listen to what he says, or ppl in Eskom say. Because lack of skills has been admitted many times in the last week or so.
No idea on poll count, but percentages are 98% Yes, 2% No

Wonder how he explains the recruiting of geriatrics...

It's just moved to 98%, someone out there clearly needs to “Go to sleep earlier so that you can grow and be cleverer.”
ToxicBunny
03-02-2008, 07:56 PM
Clearly. I actually despair.
Every person that votes no needs to be euthanaised.
Moederloos
03-02-2008, 07:58 PM
When the polls are that disproportionate it is:
1) an idiot who votes the wrong way
2) someone who clearly did not understand the question - and if they did, would have voted the same as the rest
3) has a vested interest in the "wrong" side.

Now he's saying when Eskom do load shed, that they ask the international "customers" to do the same.

Was he at least confronted - or was it a "soap box" for him to have his way?

Bleh, very disappointing. Irwin represents government as the single share-holder of Eskom, and nothing was put to him in that regard as far as culpability, nor was he questioned on all his energy-related brain farts in the media.
Nothing about the issue of depleted skill and experience levels that have contributed to "unplanned maintenance" that is the direct cause of our current power problems.
Also the actual cost implications of "going solar" were not addressed. Subsidies need to be at the 90% level for this to be embraced. I would suggest starting with the Eskom budget that was earmarked for BEE this year. Last year's amount was R16.6 billion. (Page 6 of 2007 annual Eskom report)
ToxicBunny
03-02-2008, 08:11 PM
It was very disappointing that he wasn't challenged on any of his brainfarts...
Moederloos
03-02-2008, 08:13 PM
R20 billion is R20 000 million. Thats one million solar geysers at retail.
Probably 2 million at cost. Let us divide that 20 billion by 4, giving us R5 billion.
If R5 billion were to be invested in geysers, then we could "deploy" 500 000 geysers.
This year.
Do that for 5 years, and its 2.5million.

It was very disappointing that he wasn't challenged on any of his brainfarts...
At least 98% of the viewers voted he should be fired, and more likely than not believed zero of what he said.
That is something, at least.

Bwhahah "The amount we export is not enough to make a big enough difference anyway"
Isn't the amount they export in excess of 900MW?
Oh, but then later on he says every saving counts? So I must turn off my energy saving lightbulbs because it will make a difference, but exporting power to another country won't.
What a disgrace to the white race. Burn the ****er.
