A lot of White people I know are fleeing SA..or planning to leave in the next few months..

Everyone of them that I ask "Why" says that SA has seriously gone down the tubes in the last year:

1. Rampant Rates,
2. Extreme Violent Crime increase,
3. nightmare loadshedding,
4. Massive Corruption in GVT and
5. complete assualt against whites to not get jobs (AA being agressively pushed).

There is a genuine fear amongst these people that SA is on the brink of collapse or some massive genocide against whites. This second wave of whites leaving is very different from the past wave (1995-98). These guys are desperate and are literally fleeing for their lives.

Glad you posted this...then i dont always have to "explain" myself...A pity about this though...we had some talanted guys here :(

That's OK. the emigrants will be replaced by the Zimbabweans in no time.

"THE SECOND WHITE EXODUS OF AFRICA"..remeber I own this along with "2010 ZIM2.0 (RSA) IS HERE" and "WHITE SOUTH AFRICAN REFUGEES STORM AUS/US/UK/CAN EMBASSY'S AS GENOCIDE HITS ARMPIT OF THE GALAXY IN 2008"

Well placing your livelihood in the hands of SA's "rulers" and our situation is more like a very risky gamble than an investment in one's future. On the other hand buggering off to New Zealand feels more like an investment than a gamble :)

So perhaps it is the clever ones who are running off?

Curiosity piqued//

You take great pains to point out that it is white people that are 'fleeing' but I have to wonder why it's not people of all races - or is it?

If it is as bad as made out to be then surely every one is affected by at least the first four of the causes you listed?

Must admit, im also one of thos that "hope" things will come right, but then there is the "other" side...telling me its just a dream

Yup its getting pretty hectic this emigrating thing. I did a quick 5 man survey at university among my friends and all 5 said they are leaving once qualified or earlier. :(

Same here, seems my white buddies don't really have faith in the country but they definitely DON'T want the country to go down.

True. Then again where's a black guy gonna go? I'm having some difficulty finding them a home country any better than SA. No offense intended, I genuinely mean this.

For the majority of them I doubt they have cousins and aunties living in the UK. If roles are reversed and I were say an American I would find it difficult to move to an African country where I am not with my own people. I hope this does not seem like a racial viewpoint though.

Maybe the West Indies or Jamaica maan! :) even they have very different backgrounds to most Africans afaik

There is a [-]genuine[/-] fear amongst these people that SA is on the brink of collapse or some massive genocide against whites.

A common myth pushed for years by right-wing Afrikaners. It's utter garbage.

4 different people from different circles I know are investigating leaving now.
3 of the 4 said in the past they never would.

ALL highly skilled - I do not have dimwitted friends :D

Which is garbage? The fear, or the collapse?

I think that whether we're on the edge of collapse or not is up for debate, but that people are afraid that we are, is a fact.

Someone please remind me again Why people (note that I stated No colour or whatever) want to leave SA? I still don't get it.

[]

Whats up with the people these days? In Every other thread, you have this totally Negative attitude that is coming forth from a large group of people here. Just look at the thread "President Zuma will sort out White People" - I mean, Like someone said in there, that article is First Class BS. But even so, the overall feeling I got from the thread is that Everyone is Totally Negative. They nay-sayers is jumping around like hooligans yelling "Doom DooM!" "I'm out of here"....just because of some article that some nut job wrote. Oh,no no no. I mean: "Doom DooM²!" "I'm So out of here"....just because of some NON-FACTUAL article that some nut job wrote.

Some friends of ours left some years back (+- 8-10) because "SA's end was near". Went to Canada. They returned last year. I laughed at them in their face(kinda & in a nice way :p). They were astonished at what they saw:Nothing
They thought the schools would be going backwards & being closed etc etc ... thought that everyone would be dead by the time they returned to visit. As If

For those thinking of Leaving Good Old Supposedly-Failing/ Turning-into-Zim SA I would like to leave you with these few thoughts that our Friends shared with us:
The grass looked greener on the other side (Canada, Take-Your-Pick,*), but we could not have been more wrong. We might have problems here in SA, but in truth all Countries have their own little problems. One only comes to realize that after being in [said country] for a few years.

[/:mad:]

 What was That? Oh well, I feel better now. :D

And that people are afraid. Period.

Sick to death of looking over my shoulder everytime I go anywhere - it is not healthy.
