That is on MTN to MTN calls. So the average user will be making less than 30% of their calls to MTN customers. So they are paying R2.50 on 70% of their calls. If 40% of their calls are made in off peak periods, then they are paying R1.31 more per minute on those calls to other networks and to fixed lines. And would need to get a 52% discount on the new MTN rate to match the standard off-peak rate.
A good option if you live in a rural area and have lots of contacts with MTN numbers. Else there are many better options available where you don't need a degree in physics to feel the difference.
