The furore surrounding the disbanding of the country’s elite crime-fighting unit places the whole justice system in jeopardy.

Worse - it places our constitution in jeopardy.

We have a political party bypassing parliamentary process. In fact we have a parliament that is in conflict with our constitution too.

You want democracy to work - institute an electoral system that has members of parliament accountable to the citizens of the country, not to the few who are members of a party. At least the apartheid parliament system represented the people allowed to vote to a larger degree than the bull we have now.
 
On the road to being like some of those notorious countries that harbor drug smugglers and other international crime syndicates.
Where the politicians are all on the take and the police are the crime syndicates personal protection units.
 
Mathews Phosa made it clear that the reason for the calls by the new ANC executive to dissolve the unit was mainly due to its prosecution and investigation of top ANC parliamentarians and its alleged violation of human rights.

I like THIS bit...but isnt their job to DO just that?..go in where orthers may not? How the hell otherwise are you then going to catch the criminals...:confused:
 
Did anyone watch 3rd degree the other night? had a whole expose on this...
quite interesting stuff, to sum it up, the ANC doesnt believe the scorpions should have the power they have, the way they see it is that the scorpions are both Judge and Jury when it comes to investigations. Which in a way makes sense, however that is not the real reason (atleast thats what I believe.)

What im finding ironic about the scorpions is the following:

1.Anc created them and want to disband them.
2.Alot of people laughed when the scorpions were created and now they want them around.

Saw on the news that its unconstitutional to disband them and its up to the people to decide if they stay or not.

My dad(who was an active Anc supporter during apartheid)says that if the scorpions are disbanded he is sending my siblings overseas.I tend to agree.

People scorned the creation of the Scorpions because they believed they would be ANC lapdogs.
When it turned out to be otherwise, and the lapdog bit its master, the master decided to put said lapdog "to sleep".

i think this is just an indication of what the ANC's motives realy was, but failed...they bullsh*tted guys in the past, now they want to bulsh*t them again...

Yeah, he was just fighting for freedom for all etc,used to be an Anc supporter but he now laughs at them. I also saw that Jacob Zuma is meeting the DA to try and save the scorpions.Would be the first decent things hes done.Couldnt find the link again but here's a DA one.
