I currently have 6 friends in SA, all with families, all currently in the process of getting out of SA and all asking us me for advise. Most of them are still at the early stages, fighting with home affairs for birth certificates etc... I have submitted many CV's of friends and ex colleagues to an agent here in New Zealand, and they are just too pleased to be getting such skills from people that will virtually give up everything just to get here. One couple is coming over next month with absolutely nothing, just suitcases, lots of money and the kids. A close relative is planning on arriving here in Auckland in June, he has landed a very good job with Telecom.

There is no doubt in whats currently happening to our beloved country, we don't even have to read the SA news online anymore, every time we speak to relatives in SA its always bad news about the sorry state of our country.

I have now made it my mission in helping my family and friends escape SA as I really feel it is my duty in doing so.

My question is this, this is just my observation and I know 6 couples, all fairly highly qualified, and they all leaving. How many other expats out there are experiencing the same thing, or is it just me?

Funny, my first post gets deleted. But the positive about SA thread is allowed to stay on.

Well personally as much as I dislike the exodus, it does make finding a new job considerably easier for those of us who are staying...

Funny odd or funny ha-ha? It was never deleted - your double posting was merely merged into one.

BTW - advice.

Honestly, has it really come down to calling it 'escaping SA'? Is it really that bad? I'm fairly positive, I like living here, I'm fortunate enough to get work, and never been a victim of crime (call me lucky if you will).
My solution, switch off the TV ignore the overhyped media trying to make a quick buck and enjoy your life. I don't believe that I'll need to escape, it won't get that bad.

If it does you can come back online and tell me 'I told you so'.

QFT.

Frankly I don't see the point of an expat living in NZ coming onto a South African forum and bitching and moaning. How 'bout you visit a NZ forum, MacNabs?

This is a south african forum, and I am a south african! just like the rest of the south africans here living in NZ, and besides I am not ranting, or moaning, read the topic again. I would like to hear from other expats about their experiences on this topic.

Yea its that bad. Maybe I should not have used the word escaping? How about exile? Or South Africans living in exile. Like I said, no need to even listen or watch the news these days, maybe all the people i speak to then in SA are just extremely negative, because they are the ones that keep running the country onto the ground, they all the ones in the process of getting out.

Some people have the gift of foresight.
Others refuse to see reality.

Enjoy New Zealand!

I am SO flagging this post, this cr@p is so far out of hand.

Firstly: Its in the wrong section. How is this news and current affairs??
For you and your friends maybe... or is news and current affairs now exclusively the domain of emigrants and would be emigrants?

Secondly: The title, are the latest wave of chicken runners now spin doctoring to themselves? 'Operation Exodus' ...pu-leeze.

This is propaganda plain and simple.

Eish ya'll are touchy  Sure, the titel has a wee bit of a sensationalistic touch to it , but I didn't find his post offensive or to be propaganda. If that is his experience so far then that is his experience.

Funnily enough, one of our MyKKK forumites has already decided that the time is right to say "I told you so".

:D :D :D

hah! I'll draw up some terms and conditions before I make those kind of statements again!
