Hardbodies were also recalled a while back for defective seat bolts and something else.

While this is a fairly big issue in a way... Its good that Nissan are recalling the vehicles and will rectify the issue.
On a side issue, raise your hands here who actually gives a damn about the Euro NCAP pedestrian safety rating?... I mean honestly will you buy a car because its safer for the pedestrian when you run him over?

Depends on what is in the assessment. I.e. a car that is too large (wide) and making it hard to see people on the side the road [or worse, hitting them ] kinda important considering the little roads you get in europe...
EDIT: found it
Recently, attention has also been given to cars' design regarding the safety of pedestrians in car-pedestrian collisions. Proposals in Europe would require cars sold there to have a minimum/maximum hood (bonnet) height. From 2006 the use of "bull bars" (also known as "roo bars" in Australia), a fashion on 4x4s and SUVs, became illegal.

However, in recent years crash engineers have begun to use design principles that have proved successful in protecting car occupants to develop vehicle design concepts that reduce the likelihood of injuries to pedestrians in the event of a car-pedestrian crash. These involve redesigning the bumper, hood (bonnet), and the windshield and Pillar (car) to be energy absorbing (softer) without compromising the structural integrity of the car.

No, this hasn't.... which is why I called it a side issue :)
The article briefly mentions the Euro NCAP Pedestrian rating.... a concept I'm still trying to actually figure out in terms of who gives a damn.

A Jamaican person would say "You are an evul baad maan" :D
The Navarra also scored a 1 star struck through for occupant safety in the Euro NCAP, lol.
When they recall these buggers, do they give u a courtesy car in the mean time?

Let's face it - nobody buys a double cab for its 5 star safety rating. If you want safe - buy a Renault or Volvo.
By the way - Navara was one of the first double cabs being tested - the rest are still to follow. I would like to see the Hilux's results...
