I can't believe I'm saying this but for once in my life I agree with him.
4x4 used for everyday use are bad news for the planet.
Not to mention the fuel costs :eek::eek:

Go for it, you can never go wrong with Pajero.
Also check Land cruiser Prado.

Is it to replace your lil Panda BC?
No way dude. My dad wants to buy one. I wanted him to get a new shape Outlander for the same price, but with only 20 000km on the clock. IMO the Outlander's much better for him - he never does heavy 4x4 trails or anything, just the occasional trip to the Kruger, so the Outlander's more than capable, plus it's more economical, it's not diesel, it handles better, it's more spacious.
The problem is, my dad suffers from the same malaise that plagues so many people - the irrational desire for a hard core 4x4 to drive around in the city with. I'm just trying to gauge whether I'm just being a crazy greenie or whether more "traditional" car fans also think a medium mileage old-shaped Pajero is a poor choice.

I'd definitely suggest the Subaru over a Mitsubishi anyday of the week..
They're alot more bullet proof than the Mitsubishi. Plus as you say, they're just better for the average cityslicker who goes to the Kruger occasionally.
I woulda recommended a used Forester but for 2 things:
1) It's a lot thirstier than the Outlander.
2) The new shape Forester's just come out. I don't like the idea of spending R250k+ on an old shape car, which is part of the problem with this Pajero.
Methinks all the new Foresters will be more tha R260k?
Rather buy a brand new Tucson.
He had the new Kia Sportage for two years already which is basically the same as the Tucson.

They recently did a study proving biofuels and the production of 'enivornment friendly' cars are worse for the environment...
Personally, I like my 4x4 and little sports car.
Biofuels don't seem to be the answer that they once did. However, what do you mean by "environmentally friendly" cars? Link to the study plz.
Oh noes. My parents are going to look at SWB Pajeros this morning. I even told my dad he could get a new Forester at that price and that did nothing to change his mind.
