It is indicated explicitly on their website that I fall into that Zone which will have a power cut (in terms of the new, longer outages) from 10:00 to 14:00 on Tue, Thu, Sat and Sun.

This MONDAY morning at 06:00, the power gets cut. They got everything wrong - the day, the time, the area.

How useless can one organisation be????

It's Eskom, They don't have to keep to the set times apparently.

I was supposed to be cut by City Power at 6am TOMORROW. 4am to 6.30am this morning I get loadshedded (not that I mind, I only get up at 7am :p)

So much for "Ensuring a high degree of certainty for customers (predictability)".

Surely then you can sue for damage to electrical appliances as you were unaware that the power would be going down at that time?

Now it's a state run departement. They don't have to be accountable to anyone or anything.

We have to "give them a break" till this generation has died.

Since they are a monopoly, i guess they can do what they want.

How typical. They leave themselves with an easy escape route.

Firstly, are you guys certain that you fall into the area you assume you fall into? I assumed I lived in Pinetown as this is what most people say when I tell them where I live. For load shedding purposes I am actually on the Cowies Hill power grid.

Secondly, have you made sure that they have not changed the load shed times this time around? No one said those times were written in stone for the rest of time. Perhaps they, fairly, changed them to give everyone new times in case your last one was 4-6pm and not 2-3am!

They did change the schedules.

They also added that City power in Cape town and Johannesburg are responsible for their own loadshedding schedules.

You should check their sites for your times.

Yup, I'm in the epicentre. Every area around me for several kms is in the block. So there is no way I could not be on the same grid.

Block 2 TUES, THURS, SAT, SUN 6am-10am

I have no idea whereabouts you are so I cannot comment.... but I know we have two blocks on our load shedding shedule. I also thought I was slap bang in the middle of Pinetown. Power grids work differently.

All of this is beside the point when you read this on the Eskom site -

Load Shedding will be simplified to two stages:

* Planned (pre-emptive) Load Shedding will be done to enhance predictability
o Single, fixed schedule
o Shedding at maximum value (MW) of the schedule

* Emergency (non pre-emptive) Load Shedding can occur during network emergencies
o All Customer (unless exempted) could be affected
