I don't agree on this issue of requiring some deep & thoughtful opinion in OPs [post#1's].It's not the content of the link which is a problem, I find the fact that it's just a link the problem. No insight, no thoughts on the matter? Rather just start one thread and post all your links in there. Give it some catchy title like Robin Hood's Negative News Central

IMO posting a snippet and attributing that snippet with a link to the source, is sufficient for a post#1:The thread starter can easily add his|her own personal opinions in later posts - I don't think the thread starter should be mandated to express his|her opinion in post#1 if he|she does not wish to do so at that time.
- it starts the debate off on neutral ground where the discussion is not centred around the thread starter's personal opinion on the snippet and the rest of whatever the link points to;
- it also encourages forumites to actually click on the link and read the rest without getting tied into making knee-jerk reaction comments based on what would otherwise be the thread starter's personal opinion and not necessarily what the thread is about.
Exactly.Stupid news items like the UFS thing will remain at the top of the news sites for months, while white farmers being slaughtered in their homes barely leave a dust mote ruffled as they whiz past.
