Eskom urged not to pay bonuses

The Democratic Alliance does not want shares to the possible value of R10-million to be awarded to Eskom management.

DA spokesperson on public enterprises Manie van Dyk said the awarding of such shares would be outrageous, given that South Africans were bearing the brunt of extreme negligence on the part of Eskom management.

Van Dyk would be writing to the Minister of Public Enterprises and the chief executive officer of Eskom in an effort to prevent these bonuses from being paid out.

"This money should rather be diverted into Eskom's coal procurement or capital expansion plan."

A lack of planning has seen massive "rolling blackouts" sweeping across South Africa, and the economy being hit because big industry it cannot reach its production targets. Citizens have also been trapped in lifts and in huge traffic jams amid periodic shortages of electricity. - Sapa

I am... speechless. Speechless that they could even consider issuing bonuses.

If this does happen, it think its time to start with some mass action.
 
eskom managment

and the top management gets dropped off in a helicopter everyday at work at megawatt park while we r stuck in traffic
 
/me wants job like eishkom management: f$ck up your job, and get paid extremely handsomely for the privilege! ;)

I wish this could happen!! White people of South Africa dont know how to do that! Setup barricades and start burning tyres. That would be great, instead of letting this insideous plague continue unabated.

Mass action whitie style is to pack up and leave - the worst punishment imaginable for an African country - just look North.

The march from Trinity House for the silent protest against crime, after the tragic murder of Emily Williams, was very eerie and, in my opinion, very effective. I watched as many white people, schoolkids and even police officers marched in absolute silence.

It can be done, it just takes something really shocking, unfortunately.
 
True, your point is valid. I think i was assuming we need violent protests.

Take a page out of Gandhi's book, I guess. Not everything needs to be solved with violence. In fact, violence just diminishes the message you're trying to send.
 
I reckon we give the Eskom dudes their fat bonuses but deduct 5% from their total remuneration for every day that a part of SA gets loadshed. THAT is performance incentives in action.:cool:

Hmmm... you can't really be deducted 150% from you salary now, can you? hehehe.
