A ‘heads up’ on LCD monitor trends

How good are LCD monitors on the eyes? Or rather is it better or worst compared to the normal screens?
 
I'm sorry, I couldnt resist JK8 - I hope you can "see" the humour though..
to me, I always regarded the "old" CRT as being clearer / more crisp, though there were times (usually when the crt monitor started to age) that I could see the screen "flashing" which caused my eyes to hurt (though co-workers couldnt see the same flicker that i experienced)
so to me, crt showed clearer more crisp, but the LCD i use now hasnt had that flicker in over 4 years - i prefer the LCD - that said, JK8, u'd probably prefer the CRT seeing as though i "see" better on the LCD ;oP

you have to work on a decent lcd to how amazing they are

not only is better for your eyes

the picture quality is 200 times better

when i went from crt to lcd i was blown away
 
I agree that that the size and quality are much better, but I will say that CRT has been a little more crisp. I think I'm a little more sensitive to the refresh rate of CRT than most of the people in my school. 60HZ gives me near an instant headache.

My only complaint with LCD is that I've occasionally "seen" into the grids and it sort of makes things rough until I take my eyes away and refocus. There's an explanation for that on Wikipedia somewhere, possibly to do with the type of LCD I have.

so does this mean I have to sell my LCD monitors and buy these new-fangled LCD monitor thingies??? :confused:
 
My 19" wide has a 700:1 contrast ratio, so pictures (and possible video?) look better on a CRT.
