At last, a fellow gamer [:D]

With the advent of MMORPG ( Can't wait for World of Warcraft) and MMOFPS (Planetside ?), the gaming industry is being turned upside down. ( I know we a slightly behind the rest of the world on games, but that's another story for another forum)

Sadly, ADSL will not support these type of on-line games since they applied network shaping. Most of these games uses specific ports other than those they have prioritised, so there is now only one word in my vocabulary these days, often shouted out in frustration accompanied by a string of expletives aimed at our dear Telkom.

I don't have any experience on the classics such as Diablo, Never Winter Nights and Dungeon Siege, but can imagine that they would be affected too.

In fact if they can only fix this aspect of ADSL, and I know i'm being selfish here [;)], I would be a happy customer.

Spread the word, I thought I was the only gamer out there who was bitching about ADSL.

How is playing on the SAIX game servers with an ADSL conncetion ?

I have been playing there with a 128k Diginet conncetion, and it wasnt to bad. But I heard from a few guys it is actually very nice with ADSL.

But as far as playing on other game server (Gamespy and so on) i think you will be lucky if u get a ping on like 10000.

From my experience:

I came home from work to find my brother play Counter-Strike on the SGS servers on his PC , that shares my ASDL connection (after cap [:D]), with no lag ...even more astounding is when I connected to the SGS CS server at the same time and there was no lag...ave Latency aprox 40 ~ 50.
