sigh. please help me, vista won't connect to internet

I downloaded updates, now I can't use the internet....
I can on my notebook though...

It keeps saying I can send data but not recieve it...
 
Have you checked your Windows Firewall?
Try this ping a site lets say www.google.com
and see if you get a reply
 
My firewall is off

damn this is p-ing me off!

I tried pinging google with cmd, says "ping request could not find host. please check the name and try again

Ok press the Windows key on your keyboard, next to control at the bottom and then press R, now type cmd at the run box and try it then ;)
 
Not sure if control alt and enter will do it.

Press windows key + R, windows key first, keep it in then press R, release. Try the ipconfig first.

Have you tried restarting the pc?

yes and still no prevail:(
 
Try disabling your Network Card from Network connections, restart the pc and when it's restarted enable it again ;)
 
when i do the ip thing:

autoconfig ipv4 adress: xxx.xxx.xxx.xx
Subnet Mask: xxx.xxx.x.x
Defalt Gateway:

dns suffix:
link-local ipv6 address: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
default gateway:

media state: media disconnected

btw i use a network card
and i cant even login to my router
 
Seems your network is either disabled or it's drivers are messed up ;)

Go into device manager, Windows Key + Pause, Device Manager on the Top Left. Look for Network Adapters, see if it's disabled or if the driver is working,
 
Ok, this all happened when I downloaded updates, but I didnt even install them this happened.......



I disables and enabled again, still not working, it says "limited or no connectivity"
 
It could be that your network card bit the dust man, what motherboard do you have, is it a built in network card or stand alone?

Don think it would have dust..... But ill check, i only installed it a week ago...

you see, my motherboard one broke:p
